    In Washington, bigwigs can misspeak and misstep a million times without drawing attention. And then there are the seemingly harmless moments that stick to a person like super glue: Joe Wilson barking “You lie!”; Jesse Jackson mumbling into a hot mic that he wants to castrate Barack Obama; Dan Quayle trying to spell things.

    Like coal crushed into diamonds by the pressure of a million eyeballs, such moments are forever.

    During an exclusive dinner hosted Monday by the Alfalfa Club, Obama adviser Valerie Jarret had just such a moment. And were it not for an irritated tipster, Jarret might have walked away from the dinner unblemished.

    According to our tipster, Jarrett was seated at the head table along with several other big-name politicians and a handful of high-ranking military officials. As an officer sporting several stars walked past Jarrett, she signaled for his attention and said, “I’d like another glass of wine.”

    Garçon!

    White House economic adviser Austan Goolsbee, who was seated next to Jarret, began “cracking up nervously,” our tipster said, but no one pointed out to Jarrett that the man sporting a chestful of medals was not her waiter.

    “The guy dutifully went up and got her a glass of wine, and then came back and gave it to her and took a seat at the table,” our tipster said. “Everyone is in tuxedos and gowns at this thing, but the military people are in full dress uniform.”

    “There was no shortage of waiters either,” the tipster added.
    Unknown General: Handled with complete aplomb.

    Military personnel are best know for... ta da... Military Bearing. That General is a hero in one way or another. Might never have even fired a weapon himself in the last 20 years, but he leads men and treats women as they should be.

    Even that "chick".

    Did Valerie Jarrett Really Veto Some Strikes Against bin Laden? Really?
    As mentioned in yesterday’s Three Martini Lunch, I’m not convinced this is the most fertile ground for a criticism of Obama:
    At the urging of Valerie Jarrett, President Barack Obama canceled the operation to kill Osama bin Laden on three separate occasions before finally approving the May 2, 2011 Navy SEAL mission, according to an explosive new book scheduled for release August 21. The Daily Caller has seen a portion of the chapter in which the stunning revelation appears.
    In ”Leading From Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him,“ Richard Miniter writes that Obama canceled the “kill” mission in January 2011, again in February, and a third time in March. Obama’s close adviser Valerie Jarrett persuaded him to hold off each time, according to the book.
    Miniter, a two-time New York Times best-selling author, cites an unnamed source with Joint Special Operations Command who had direct knowledge of the operation and its planning.


    First, I think highly of Richard Miniter, but how would this unnamed source with Joint Special Operations Command know that it was Jarrett who was persuading the president to put off the strike? JSOC would know about the delay, but would they be privy to Obama’s conversations with Jarrett? Do the sources know she was the reason for the delay, or do they think she was the reason for the delay?


    Either way, I figure the Obama administration would love to make the next 99 days as much about the Osama bin Laden strike as possible. Because no matter how convoluted or complicated the decision-making process was, the conversation always ends with… “and then we got him.” Score one for the incumbent.


    However, Jeff Goldstein says we ought to recognize the risk involved in Obama’s decision: “I think Miniter is being a little tough on the President here, frankly. And that’s because Obama had a very good reason for delaying the kill mission: namely, that Valerie Jarrett can be quite unpleasant — hell, downright mean — when she doesn’t get her way.”


    For what it’s worth, Moe Lane is skeptical: “…largely because I have a definite dislike of anonymous allegations, particularly when they’re not backed up by any other evidence. I find it at least mildly difficult to believe that people would have been able to keep this a secret for this long; this isn’t the Bush administration, which means that there’s no inherent loyalty there. It’s not impossible, but I am definitely wary of any unsourced allegation that happens to reinforce my already low opinion of this administration.


    Put another way: apparently Valerie Jarrett made enemies like Rahm Emanuel and Robert Gibbs at times. You don’t think guys like that would leak something like that if they knew, in an effort to undermine her influence?

    SEAN HANNITY, HOST OF "HANNITY": His new book is making waves in Washington and all around the country. It's a book called "Leading From Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him," which debuts tomorrow.
    Author Richard Miniter exposes what the president and about the president's unwillingness to lead by looking at the real force behind Obama's accomplishments and his failures. Now the book asks a very fundamental question, is our commander in chief actually leading it at all?


    Joining us now the author, is he leading?


    RICHARD MINITER, AUTHOR "LEADING FROM BEHIND": Well, certainly not on the big things he talks about. I mean, look, if you look this campaign, one of the things that they said repeatedly is that the demonstration of the ability to lead is things like the Bin Laden raid.


    When I dug into the details, I looked back further than anyone has. People looked to the day before, the day before. Look at the beginning when the president is first sworn in January, and the first briefings on Bin Laden's location occurred in the spring of 2009.


    Leon Panetta then CIA director begins pushing to go after Bin Laden. What does the president do? In two years leading up to the killing of Bin Laden, he only meets with the CIA director nine times.


    At the same time he meets with the head J Street of this anti-Israel group 35 times, and meets with Valerie Jarrett two to three times a day. This is according to White House visitor logs.


    HANNITY: So basically three separate times in 2011, he passes?


    MINITER: That's right. The planning for the mission, the Bin Laden raid, is canceled three times in 2011 alone. They stop the planning. They're not sure if they want to go forward. This is supposed be an example of Obama's decisive leadership. These are based on accounts from people who are in the room, career people and political people who are intimately involved in the planning of this mission.


    HANNITY: So what about Valerie Jarrett?


    MINITER: Well, Valerie Jarrett is an unusual figure in American history. Since 1991, she has been the adviser, the mentor of both the president and the first lady. She has shaped their careers and guided them.


    Never in American history, has someone simultaneously mentored the first lady and the president of the United States. The president has said he never makes a decision without consulting her. And members of Obama's staff refer to her as the other half of Barack's brain. And she panicked. She did not want the Bin Laden raid to go forward.


    HANNITY: What about the fact that he sort of handed off health care, handed off a lot of these big decisions, like healthcare, we'll let Congress deal with it.


    MINITER: That's part of it. I mean one of the great surprises in investigating this book. I talked to more than 100 members of the administration, past and previous, or people who worked with the president in Congress, or other ways, one of the things that surprised me, ObamaCare really doesn't deserve the name.


    It should be called 'PelosiCare,' because at the beginning president Obama was not on board. Rahm Emanuel was opposed for months and months early on. It was Nancy Pelosi, with every moment of indecision, which every moment Obama wanted to back away, she forced the ball forward. She was leading and he was letting her carry the ball.


    HANNITY: What did you learn about him, because I've always said he's a rigid, radical ideologue? What else did you learn about him and his personality because he doesn't lead from behind?


    MINITER: One of the great surprises is that how much he defers to strong minded ideological women. Women some people say like his mother, but if you look at Nancy Pelosi. You look at Hillary Clinton who was able to build an incredible relationship with Obama. These people were enemies. They were rivals.


    HANNITY: I say the Clintons still hate him.


    MINITER: Well, maybe Bill does, but Hillary Clinton has forged a tremendous relationship. She's the only cabinet member to have a weekly standing meeting with the president of the United States.


    And she's used that and a lot of hard work to built a solid rapport, very unlikely allies and some of the biggest accomplishments, including the Bin Laden raid itself, is thanks to Hillary Clinton, not Barack Hussein Obama.


    HANNITY: Pretty amazing. "Leading From Behind, The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide For Him." Well, he's let people make bad decisions then for him. Richard, good to see you. Thanks for being with us.

    The real power behind Obama

    US President Barrack Obama seems to be only a figurehead of power, according to an explosive new book coming out titled "Leading from Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him."


    According to a news source, author Rich Miniter, a former Wall Street Journal, Washington Times and Sunday Times journalist, said Obama is under the strong influence of a number of dominant women -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, top adviser Valerie Jarrett, and first lady Michelle.


    He cites various sources to claim that Obama "cancelled missions to kill bin Laden three times after getting cold feet -- until Hillary Clinton stepped in."


    The three "kill" missions terminated by Obama were in January, February, and March 2011.


    Miniter asserts that the White House carefully crafted Obama to look like a decisive leader who took charge in the handling of the al-Qaida leader even though Obama was somewhat reluctant and only followed the advice of others in making the big decision.


    Intially, Obama deferred to Jarrett about going after bin Laden.


    She opposed the idea because she worried about the backlash that could follow the procedure.


    However, Clinton slowly convinced Obama to go in after bin Laden.


    Miniter states that Obama "knew Clinton was right. So he agreed to keep making minor decisions, but remained uneasy about the big one at the end -- deciding to kill bin Laden, and to risk losing American and Pakistani lives in the process."


    Obama is said to have refused to take charge because he "feared taking responsibility for a risky raid that might go tragically wrong."

    Obama's Strange Dependence on Valerie Jarrett

    President Obama canceled the operation to kill Osama bin Laden three times before saying yes, because he got cold feet about the possible political harm to himself if the mission failed. Instead of listening to advisors from the U.S. military, Defense, or even State, Obama was acting on the advice of White House politico and close friend Valerie Jarrett. Valerie Jarrett?

    This account comes from Richard Miniter's upcoming book Leading From Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors who Decide for Him. Miniter has written a half-dozen books on the war on terror. He is relying on an unnamed source within the U.S. military Joint Special Operations Command who was directly involved in the operation and planning of the Osama bin Laden kill mission.

    Is the story credible? According to Edward Klein, a reporter once asked Obama if he ran every decision by Jarrett. Obama answered, "Yep. Absolutely."

    Edward Klein, former foreign editor of Newsweek and editor of the New York Times Magazine for many years, describes Jarrett as "ground zero in the Obama operation, the first couple's friend and consigliere." Klein -- who claims he used a minimum of two sources for each assertion in his book on the Obama presidency, The Amateur -- writes in detail about Jarrett opposing the raid on bin Laden. She told Obama not to take the political risk. Klein thought Obama ignored Jarrett's advice. Miniter tells us he listened to her, three times telling Special Operations not to take the risk to go after bin Laden.

    We need to understand the role Valerie Jarrett plays in Obama's private and political life.

    "If it wasn't for Valerie Jarrett, there'd be no Barack Obama to complain about," starts Klein's chapter on Jarrett. He quotes Michelle Obama on Jarrett's influence over her husband: "She knows the buttons, the soft spots, the history, the context."

    No one outside Michelle has the access or power over Obama's decision-making like Jarrett does. Here's an odd little fact that gives some insight into what kind of president Obama is: Michelle, Michelle's mother, and Valerie, and only a few others in Washington, are allowed to call Barack by his first name. After work, Jarrett joins Obama at night in the Family Quarters, where she dines often with the First Family. She goes on vacation with them.

    Jarrett's title is the weird mouthful "Assistant to the President for Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs." She is the gatekeeper, but she is also much more than that. She occupies Karl Rove's and Hillary's old office and has an all-access pass to meetings. She shows up at the National Security Council, at meetings on the economy and budget. She stays behind to advise Obama on what to think and do. Obama uses her as his left-wing conscience. Klein's sources describe how at each pressing issue, Obama turns to ask her, "What do you think the right thing to do is?" As president, he likes to have her next to him "as the voice of authentic blackness in a White House that is staffed largely by whites."

    A longtime friend told Klein that Jarrett is the "eyes, ears and nose" of the Obamas. She tells them whom to trust, who is saying what, whom to see at home and abroad. Michelle wants her there: "I told her ... it would give me a sense of comfort to know that (Barack) had somebody like her there by his side." As Obama told the New York Times, "Valerie is one of my oldest friends. ... I trust her completely."

    To understand why Obama relies so heavily on Jarrett, we must remember the president's identity crisis as a black man, which is the main subject of his memoir, Dreams from My Father. Valerie Jarrett's adoption of the Obamas as her friends and protégés in Chicago's upper-crust black society was one of the greatest things that ever happened to Obama. Until becoming a community organizer, Obama tells us he felt himself to be an inauthentic American black. Nothing in his life helped him understand or fit into the American black community.

    Within a few weeks of Obama's birth, conceived out of wedlock as he was, his mother moved away to a different college, leaving Obama's African birth father behind in Honolulu. There may have been a shotgun wedding or not -- in the memoir, Obama says he is not sure. The only time Barack set eyes on his father was a brief visit when he was ten. Our president lived with his white mother, then with her and her Indonesian husband in Indonesia from age six to ten. He was so unhappy that he chose to leave his mother and live with his white grandparents back in America. Obama's America was the tolerant, wealthy American world of Honolulu's top prep school.

    His only black experience was his grandfather's creepy old friend, Frank Marshall Davis, a card-carrying Communist and self-disclosed pederast, who was Obama's voice of authentic blackness. One result of this lonely and unhappy childhood as a mixed-race child was Barack Obama's envy problem. The key to understanding Jarrett's power over the president is that Obama didn't just envy people with normal parents and loving, successful fathers. He envied American blacks, especially those who grew up in intact black families, knowing who they were, comfortable in their black skin.

    Valerie Jarrett reflects Obama in many ways. Like himself, Valerie looks more white than black. Her mother had three white grandparents, and her father was black. Like Obama, she lived in the Muslim world for part of her childhood, when her father practiced medicine in Iran. Like Obama, she is a committed leftist. But there are crucial differences. Her father was not a drunk Kenyan polygamist like Obama's, but a famous pathologist and geneticist. Her mother was not a leftist expatriate like Obama's, but a distinguished psychologist. Valerie married into Chicago's black elite, the top rung of African-American society. She went to Stanford, got a law degree from Michigan, and became Mayor Richard Daley's deputy chief of staff, "the public black face" of his administration.

    When Valerie Jarrett hired Michelle to work for Daley and befriended her, the Obamas gained access to the exclusive world of upper-class black Chicago politics. Valerie knew everyone whom it was important to know in black and Jewish money circles. She gave Barack entrée and legitimacy. She financed and promoted his ambitions for national office.

    Obama finally belonged. Not that Jarrett's record in Chicago was anything to be proud of. Jarrett was known for her corruption and incompetence. Daley finally had to fire her after a scandal erupted over her role in misuse of public funds in the city's substandard public housing. She went on to become CEO of Habitat Executive Services, pulling down $300,000 in salary and $550,000 in deferred compensation. Again, she managed a housing complex that was seized by government inspectors for slum conditions. The scandal didn't matter to Obama. The sordid corruption was all part of Jarrett's Chicago success story.

    Every insider in Chicago told Klein the same thing: Jarrett has no qualifications to be the principal advisor to the president of the United States. She doesn't understand how Washington works, how relations with Congress work, how the federal process works. She doesn't understand how the economy works, how the military works, how national security works. But she understands how Obama works.

    The president turns to Valerie Jarrett for definitive advice on all these issues. She has given him terrible advice over and over, and still he turns to her.

    Her true job is to make Obama feel proud of himself. When Obama looks at Jarrett, he sees himself as whole and good and real. He is no longer the fake black, the fatherless kid flailing around in a white world, tortured by the unfairness of it all. She fills the emptiness at the core of his identity. She admires and adores him. Jarrett told New Yorker editor David Remnick that the president is "just too talented to do what ordinary people do." And the icing on the cake -- she shares his left-wing politics that project unfairness out onto white America.

    Obama relies on Jarrett to create the White House bubble he likes to live in, where his narcissism is stroked and his desire to do the big, left-wing thing is encouraged. Jarrett is the doorman. She runs access to the president. As Klein puts it, she guards him from meeting with "critics and complainers who might deflate his ego." No one gets past Jarrett who has an incompatible point of view.

    Jarrett pushed ObamaCare. At the beginning of Obama's presidency, there was pressure on Obama to focus on the economic crisis. Rahm Emanuel advised a small, bipartisan health care reform with popular items such as coverage for young adults -- to get it passed quickly and focus on the country's money problems. Jarrett urged the president to be true to his left-wing agenda. She was all for having Reid-Pelosi create the ObamaCare assault on the American health system and ramming it through on a one-party vote, using Chicago-style politics, while Obama crossed the country doing what he does best: make speeches. Obama liked Jarrett's idea. Emanuel is now out of the White House.

    Jarrett pushed the Solyndra fiasco. Jarrett promoted Solyndra because one of her richest Chicago connections, billionaire George Kaiser, a top Obama bundler, had a 35% share in Solyndra. Kaiser visited the White House sixteen times.

    Larry Summers, the director of the president's National Economic Council, warned Obama that the federal government should not get involved in venture capital of any sort. Summers understood that crony capitalism sabotages economic growth. Huge government funding distorts and destroys whatever market segment it touches, replacing economic decisions with political ones.

    A member of Obama's finance committee warned the president that Solyndra was going bankrupt. But it is Obama and Valerie who see eye to eye, and they saw the value to Obama of rewarding his political cronies. It worked fine in Chicago. Larry Summers is now out of the White House.

    Jarrett pushed Obama to take on the Catholic Church over contraception, arguing that it would appeal to single women (she was right) and that religious freedom isn't important (she was wrong). Bill Daley, who had replaced Rahm Emmanuel as chief of staff, argued against Obama pushing contraception on the Church and invited Archbishop Timothy Cardinal Dolan of New York to meet with a displeased Obama, who didn't appreciate hearing from the Church. Daley is now out of the White House.

    Valerie Jarrett is the most powerful woman in Washington. She has guided the president's decisions on health care, the budget, the stimulus, the deficit, foreign affairs.

    So when Jarrett told Obama that the mission to kill bin Laden was too politically risky, and to play it safe, it is entirely plausible to believe that the president listened to her. It is consistent with everything we know about Obama's dependence on her. According to Miniter's source in the U.S. Military Joint Special Operations Command, Obama listened to her for four months, dithering and deciding no the first three times the military told him that the time to get bin Laden was now.

    In The Amateur, Klein reports that another worry won out. Obama was even more scared of the political fallout if voters learned he'd passed up the chance to get bin Laden. What decided him wasn't the national interest, but politics. For once, the president disagreed with Valerie Jarrett.

    Valerie Jarret is a shadow president. She has vast power to affect this country and as far as I can tell, she's so far to the left, the president looks like Ronald Reagan compared to her.

    That's what I was thinking.

    I looked at her picture. I have heard her name and saw her before.... however, there's something about her that is ringing some really, really big bells but I can't put a finger on why I know her or from where. I have nothing whatsoever to do with Chicago. I've been there, but that's all.

    I can't really figure out where she came from or why she is "bothering me" so much.

    Senior White House adviser and long-time Obama confidant Valerie Jarrett’s role in a number of controversial Chicago housing developments has garnered her investments worth millions of dollars while highlighting the administration’s extensive business ties to presidential donors.


    Before joining the Obama administration in 2009, Jarrett was president and chief executive officer of the Habitat Company, a real estate development firm founded by major Democratic donor Daniel Levin. Before that, she served three years as commissioner of the Chicago Department of Planning and Development under Mayor Richard Daley.


    Jarrett currently owns an 11-percent equity interest in Kingsbury Plaza, a 46-story luxury apartment complex developed by Habitat between 2005 and 2007 at a cost of more than $100 million.


    She valued the investment at between $1 million and $5 million on her 2011 financial disclosure form, up from $250,001 in 2010. A Jarrett spokesman told the Washington Times that the investment was “a direct result of her 13 years working for Habitat.”


    Cook County records show the Kingsbury property is worth around $27.2 million, but thanks to a series of legal appeals beginning in 2003, the land and building are assessed at a much lower value for tax purposes. Since 2008, the property has been designated a “special commercial structure” and is taxed at a value of just $6.8 million, or 25 percent of the actual value.


    Asked how such a property could enjoy such a low taxable value, an official with the Cook County Assessor’s Office told the Free Beacon that the property’s owners “must have good attorneys.”


    In addition to Jarrett’s investment through her former employer, she received deferred compensation of more than $556,000 in January 2009, on top of her $302,000 salary the previous year.


    Levin, the firm’s founder, has close ties to the Obama administration and the Democratic Party. Levin and his wife, Fay Hartog Levin, are long-time acquaintances of the president’s, and have personally donated nearly $1 million to Democratic candidates and committees since 1989, including about $25,000 each to Obama.


    In 2009, President Obama appointed Hartog Levin ambassador to the Netherlands, a move that drew criticism from government accountability advocates. The president has a history of awarding top donors and fundraisers with ambassadorships and other administrations posts.


    The Levins each hold personal stakes in the Kingsbury development worth at least $1 million as of 2011.


    Jarrett’s involvement in Chicago real estate development between 1992 and 2009 was marred with controversy, much of which centered on Habitat’s role as the sole developer for “family public housing,” a status granted under a district court ruling in 1987.


    Under Jarrett’s leadership, Habitat oversaw the development of a number of public housing projects, one of which, in the Cabrini Green neighborhood, was dubbed a “national symbol of urban despair.” Others became so run-down the city had to ask the federal government to intervene.


    A 2003 Harvard Law Review article cited the decline of the Cabrini Green development as an embodiment of the negative consequence associated with the “privatization of public housing.”


    “They are rapidly displacing poor people, and these companies are profiting from this displacement,” Matt Ginsberg-Jaeckle of Southside Together Organizing for Power, a Chicago community organization, told the Boston Globe in 2008.


    Habitat and the Chicago Housing Authority in 2000 announced an ambitious, multi-million dollar “Plan for Transformation” in an effort to revitalize the city’s decrepit housing projects. The plan involved the establishment of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts, an accounting method through which state and local governments would subsidize redevelopment projects.


    Such financing often leads to an increase in property values in surrounding areas, benefitting developers such as Habitat. The Kingsbury property in which Jarrett owns a stake lies just outside a TIF district.


    The Cabrini Green neighborhood in 1997 was designated a “blighted” area, a portion of which was established as a TIF district. Thousands of families were displaced and many relocated to unsafe, unfinished housing projects elsewhere in the city. Experts questioned whether redevelopment resulted in a net benefit for the city.


    The city’s transformation plan included an effort to establish a separate TIF district just south of Cabrini Green in the Kingsbury neighborhood, a relatively well-off area that did not initially meet the Chicago Community Development Commission’s (CCDC) requirements for TIF status.


    The city ultimately approved the project on the grounds that the neighborhood was a “conservation area” and argued that its redevelopment would help revitalize the blighted Cabrini Green area.


    The CCDC held a public hearing on February 29, 2000, regarding the Kingsbury development project, but it is unclear if Jarrett or other Habitat executives testified in favor of granting TIF status.


    The transcripts of such hearings are typically turned over to the Chicago Municipal Library as a matter of public record. The transcript from that particular hearing, however, was never provided. A CCDC representative told the Free Beacon the document was unavailable but could be requested through the Freedom of Information Act.


    The White House and the Habitat Company did not return requests for comment.

    Jarrett was born in Shiraz, Iran to American parents James E. Bowman and Barbara Taylor Bowman. Her father, a pathologist and geneticist, ran a hospital for children in Shiraz, 1950, as part of a program where American doctors and agricultural experts sought to help jump-start developing countries' health and farming efforts. When she was five, the family moved to London for one year, returning to Chicago in 1963.[3]

    As a child she spoke Persian and French.[5]

    She's a lawyer and a psychologist:

    Jarrett graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon in 1974. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Stanford University in 1978, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Michigan Law School in 1981.[6]


    She worked for Harold Washington:

    Jarrett got her start in Chicago politics in 1987 working for Mayor Harold Washington[9] as Deputy Corporation Counsel for Finance and Development.[10]
    Jarrett continued to work in the mayor's office in the 1990s. She was Deputy Chief of Staff for Mayor Richard Daley, during which time (1991) she hired Michelle Robinson, then engaged to Barack Obama, away from a private law firm. Jarrett served as Commissioner of the Department of Planning and Development from 1992 through 1995, and was Chair of the Chicago Transit Board from 1995 to 2005.[10]

    (WESTERN JOURNALISM) I do believe that I may have stumbled upon something that the mainstream media has missed: a common connection between three mass murderers and the White House.


    First, let us look at Nidal Hassan. He was the Fort Hood shooter who went on a rampage killing spree against deploying soldiers. Apparently, no one noticed any red flags leading up to his behavior. According to Wikipedia, Hassan trained and operated as a phsyciatrist.

    This is an exerpt from Wikipedia : Hasan joined the United States Army immediately after high school, and served eight years as an enlisted soldier while attending college. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, and went on to attend medical school at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (“USUHS” or “USU”).[21] After earning his medical degree in 2003, Hasan completed his residency in psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.[22] While an intern at Walter Reed, he received counseling and extra supervision.


    Now, let us take a look at Colorado mass murderer James Holmes. Again, Holmes didn’t show any red flags before he gained entrance into a movie theatre and killed twelve people and wounded scores of others. Acording to USA Today, Holmes graduated from the University of California-Riverside with a B.S. in neuroscience.

    This is the exerpt: Update at 3:27 p.m. ET: The University of California-Riverside confirms that James Eagan Holmes graduated with honors in spring 2010 with a B.S. degree in neuroscience.


    Now, we have Wisconsin mass murderer Wade Page. Again, according to those who knew him, he did not show any red flags before he gunned down six people. Mr. Page served in the US Military and was schooled in Psychological Operations as reported by USA Today.

    This is the exerpt: Page enlisted in April 1992 and was given a less-than-honorable discharge in October 1998. CBS reports that Page served at Fort Bliss, Texas, in the psychological operations unit in 1994, and was last stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., attached to the psychological operations there.


    The Associated Press reports that such specialists are responsible for the analysis, development and distribution of intelligence used for influencing foreign populations.


    Last but not least, we have Obama White House top senior adviser Valerie Jarrett. According to www. browsebiography.com, Jarrett is a graduate from Stanford University with a degree in psychology.

    This is an excerpt from that biography: Jarrett spent some of her childhood in the Hyde Park area of Chicago before entering a Massachusetts boarding school. In 1974, she began classes at Stanford University, which would grant her a degree in psychology four years later. From there, she went on to the University of Michigan Law School, and in 1981 returned to Chicago and became an attorney in private practice. In 1983, she wed William Jarrett, a physician she had known since her youth in Hyde Park. They had a daughter together, but the marriage was over by 1988.


    Maybe it is just a coincidence, or maybe there is something more here. It just seems highly irregular that as the Obama regime pushes for gun control and winning the election, all of a sudden death and destruction arise to refocus everyone from looking at Obama’s failed Presidency.

    With what has happened over the past four years, can we really think that the use of Psychological Operations (PSYOPs) is out of the question? Especially at the hands of a trained professional? It is for you to decide. As always, stay safe and be aware of your surroundings.

    Hmmmm Man, if I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd be all over this stuff. I've read enough science fiction in my life that contained a lot of the "make the people into sheep" theories that I can't really rule such a thing out these days. Not any more.

    Our country has been lied to repeatedly and people have been "convinced" to do the things they are doing. It's not a far stretch to believe that psychological operations have been on-going all these years since the 1960s.

    Senior Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett’s late father-in-law and Chicago Sun-Times columnist Vernon Jarrett, was a key member of the South Chicago communist left of the late 1940s.


    After graduating from Knoxville College in Tennessee, Jarrett moved to Chicago in 1946 to work as a journalist. On his first day on the job at the radical Chicago Defender, he was sent to cover a race riot.
    The Defender was heavily influenced by the Communist Party USA and included on its roster well known Chicago Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis.

    Jarrett and Davis worked on the Defender around the same time. They certainly knew each other through the Communist Party and its fronts.


    In June 1946, Vernon Jarrett was elected to the Illinois Council of the Communist Party’s youth wing, then known as American Youth for Democracy. This is according to Testimony of Walter S. Steele regarding Communist activities in the United States. Hearings before the Committee on Un-American Activities, House of Representatives, Eightieth Congress, first session, on H. R. 1884 and H. R. 2122, pages 75,76. It is the first hard evidence tying Vernon Jarrett directly to the Communist Party. Frank Marshall Davis, incidentally, was an official sponsor of American Youth for Democracy, along with confirmed communists Howard Fast, Langston Hughes, John Howard Lawson and Dirk Struik.


    In April 1948, Frank Marshall Davis and Vernon Jarrett were working together as members of the publicity committee of the communist controlled Citizens’ Committee to Aid Packing-House Workers.

    Besides Davis and Jarrett, communist officials of the strike committee included Oscar Brown (Treasurer) , Louise Patterson (Assistant Treasurer) and Ishmael Flory (food & groceries committee).

    Later that year, Frank Marshall Davis left Chicago for Hawaii to work on the Honolulu Record, then edited and run by Communist Party member Koji Ariyoshi.

    A member of the “Dixie Mission” to Yenan, the HQ of the Chinese communist forces in the 1940s, Ariyoshi spent nearly two years in China as an officer of an all-Nisei psychological warfare unit. The unit’s job was to direct propaganda against the Japanese civilians and troops in China at the time.

    Immediately after the war, Ariyoshi worked New York City with accused “Amerasia” spy John S. Service and Ed Rohrbough – who would become business manager of the Honolulu Record, in an effort to steer U.S. policy towards the Chinese Communists and against the Nationalists.


    Ariyoshi also worked the Committee for a Democratic Far Eastern Policy, whose board included two people later arrested during the famous “Amerasia” spy case, “Amerasia editors Philip J. Jaffe and Kate L. Mitchell.


    Frank Marshall Davis was an active member of the Communist Party in Hawaii, even after it went formally underground in 1950, when he assumed chairmanship of a tiny cell known as Group #10. Later Davis joined in the infiltration of the Hawaii Democratic Party, serving in 1950, as Assistant Secretary and Delegate to the Territorial Democratic Convention in his Precinct Club – Third Precinct of the Fifth District.


    Davis was also later observed by the FBI on several occasions photographing remote shorelines and beachfronts, possibly for intelligence purposes. The FBI continued to monitor Davis into the 1960s and he was placed on the “Security Index.” This meant Davis was marked for immediate arrest should war break out between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.
    While the Communist Party in Hawaii faded into the Democratic party and the International Longshore Workers Union, there is no evidence that Frank Marshall Davis ever stopped being a communist. As late as 1973, three years after Davis met and began mentoring the 10 year old Barack Obama, he was still listed as an endorser of one of the party’s oldest fronts, the Committee for Protection of Foreign Born.

    Also in 1948, Vernon Jarrett left his job as journalist at the Chicago Defender to start a black oriented radio show “Negro Newsfront” with comrade Oscar Brown. He also went on to become the Chicago Tribune’s first black syndicated columnist and was a founder of the leftist National Association of Black Journalists.


    Jarrett became the first black syndicated op-ed columnist for the Chicago Tribune in 1970. Then in 1983, he moved to the Chicago Sun-Times as an op-ed columnist, later becoming a member of the paper’s editorial board, from which he retired in 1995.


    While Jarrett worked his way to respectability, he still used his pen to support ”progressive” causes and politicians, including Chicago’s first black mayor Harold Washington, communist aligned US Senator Carol Moseley Braun and Barack Obama.
    According to Vernon Jarrett’s Washington Post obituary of May 25th 2004:
    Mr. Jarrett continually shone a light on African American history and pertinent issues in Chicago and throughout the country. He stoked the political embers in Chicago that led to the 1983 election of the city’s first African American mayor, Harold Washington.
    Vernon Jarrett was aware of Barack Obama’s career from its early stages and became an influential supporter.
    Commenting on the 1992 Moseley Braun Senate race, which Obama played a key role, Vernon Jarrett wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times of August 11th 1992:
    Good news! Good news! Project Vote, a collectivity of 10 church-based community organizations dedicated to black voter registration, is off and running. Project Vote is increasing its rolls at a 7,000-per-week clip…If Project Vote is to reach its goal of registering 150,000 out of an estimated 400,000 unregistered blacks statewide, “it must average 10,000 rather than 7,000 every week,” says Barack Obama, the program’s executive director…
    On Jarrett’s death, Dee Myles, the Chicago based chair of the Education Commission of the Communist Party USA, penned a tribute to Vernon Jarrett for the Peoples Weekly World of June 5th, 2004, in which she invoked the names of Communist Party legend Paul Robeson – who reportedly advised Frank Marshall Davis to leave Chicago for Hawaii.
    Readers like me can be extremely selective of the journalists we read habitually… We are selective about the journalists to whom we become insatiably addicted, and once hooked we develop a constructive love affair without the romance…



    Such was my experience with Vernon Jarrett, an African American journalist in Chicago who died at the age of 86 on May 23. I became a Vernon Jarrett addict, and I am proud of it!
    Jarrett’s claim to fame is that he was a partisan of the cause of African Americans in the broad democratic tradition of Paul Robeson…
    On April 9th, 1998, at Chicago’s South Shore Cultural Center, Vernon Jarrett hosted a Paul Robeson Citywide Centennial Celebration event, with his old comrade and Party sympathizer Margaret Burroughs and former Party members Studs Terkel and old friend Oscar Brown.


    Dee Myles went on to say:
    Jarrett was fanatical about African Americans registering and voting in mass for socially conscious candidates. He championed Harold Washington like a great warrior, and this March, from his hospital bed, wrote an article appealing to Black Chicago to turn out to vote for Barack Obama in the Illinois primaries. Obama astounded everyone with an incredible landslide victory as the progressive, Black candidate for the Democratic Party nomination for the U.S. Senate seat from Illinois. From his sickbed, Vernon Jarrett issued a clarion call, and the people responded.
    There is no doubt that the Illinois Communist Party saw the connections between the movement that elected Harold Washington and that which put Barack Obama in the US Senate.

    The legacy of Harold Washington’s election and his administration is in the collective consciousness not only of the African American community, but the entire city. Many of his democratizing achievements endure 20 years later.



    The historic election of Washington was the culmination of many years of struggle. It reflected a high degree of unity of the African American community and the alliance with a section of labor, the Latino community and progressive minded whites. This legacy of political independence also endures…



    This was also reflected in the historic election of Barack Obama. Our Party actively supported Obama during the primary election. Once again Obama’s campaign reflected the electoral voting unity of the African American community, but also the alliances built with several key trade unions, and forces in the Latino and white communities.
    Communist Frank Marshall Davis worked closely with comrade Vernon Jarrett in 1940s Chicago. Davis moved to Hawaii where he eventually met and mentored a young Barack Obama. Meanwhile Vernon Jarrett helped elect communist/socialist backed Harold Washington to the Chicago mayoralty. Washington’s victory inspired Barack Obama to move to Chicago, where his career was promoted by both Vernon Jarrett and the Communist Party.


    Vernon Jarrett’s daughter-in-law Valerie Jarrett, worked for Harold Washington. Later she employed Barack Obama’s fiancee, Michelle Robinson, befriended the family and became one of President Obama’s most trusted advisers.


    In Chicago, and nationally, the Communist Party threw its entire weight behind Obama’s Senate and Presidential campaigns.
    Is this is all mere coincidence?


    More importantly, given the connections of Frank Marshall Davis and the Communist Party USA to Soviet networks of the time, are there serious security implications here?

    Iranian-born Communist and Soros lead person Valerie Jarrett, Barack Obama’s Senior Adviser, spoke recently during a forum at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, in which she implied members of the TEA Party needed simple instructions and outlines to understand Obama’s major government overhaul of healthcare, the stimulus package, bailouts, and his road to socialism. When asked if she thought a simple booklet would help us conservative simpletons understand Obama’s desire to “fundamentally transform America,” she agreed, stating ““Hope and Change were so catchy because it was really very simple and it was something everyone understood the definition. And so I think part of what our challenge is is to find a very simple way of communicating.” Her condescending attitude and remarks garnered a historical retort from The American Patriot Alliance in an open letter to Ms. Jarrett.
    Dear Valerie,
    Greetings and salutations in the name of Our Lord & Saviour Christ Jesus.
    It saddens me somewhat that recent events and situations developing from within the White House have caused me to write this letter, though in reality it should have been done much sooner. I understand there must be a devastating conflict raging within the walls of ‘The People’s House’ between your boss Obama’s Muslim faith and Wednesday’s Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day, showing that we are STILL a “Christian Nation.”
    But I write to you today somewhat distressed over comments you made during a speaking engagement at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. During that forum, in which you blasted the TEA Party as an “‘anti-government” organization that thrives on scare tactics,” an audience member asked,
    “Could the Obama administration write much simpler booklets on housing foreclosure, on the health care bill, whereas a typical person, including those in the tea party, could understand the basics of it?”
    Your reply, and acknowledgment of his analogies, are yet another condescending assessment of the philosophies within, and the people of, the TEA PARTY that emanate from within the Obama administration, and let me quote you:
    “Hope and Change were so catchy because it was really very simple and it was something everyone understood the definition. And so I think part of what our challenge is is to find a very simple way of communicating.”
    First of all, Valerie, Obama’s 2008 “Hope & Change” campaign slogan was not only simple; it was shallow and void of any and all intelligence, direction, purpose, or specifics (which definitely made it VERY EASY for his supporters to understand). But Conservatives and members of the TEA Party got it. We knew EXACTLY what his meaning and objectives were all about… a fundamental change (YES Val, we ALL remember Obama’s plea to “join me as I ‘FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE’ America!”) of the United States from a Republic form of government whose power is vested in “WE, The People” to a Marxist/socialist tyranny where government has complete control over every aspect of American life. As in what we eat, what we earn, what we drive, how we receive healthcare and insurance, in addition to a complete erasure of our sovereign borders and national identity. In other words, a complete destruction of the foundation, principles, and moral values upon which America was created by our Founding Fathers. All of which fits perfectly into your Islamic Shari’ah form of Theocracy (which, considering you and Obama were born and raised in it, you surely understand and advocate).
    But you went even further than agree that a “simple little booklet” could help us understand your ultimate plan for the destruction of America. You continued to make direct attacks against the TEA Party, calling those of us who LOVE America, “anti-government extremists” (Janet Napolitano and Nancy Pelosi must have been ever-so-proud of you!),
    “Even if they are in favor of, let’s say, a different form of health care insurance reform, fine; but what’s happening is it’s an anti-government – I mean, that’s the tea party. They really are, um, are, uh, trying to rebel against government at all. And I think that that’s … again, it’s an extreme.”
    “And it’s always a lot easier, again, to scare people and to get them angry when they’re already scared, and they’re already uncertain. And I think that’s what the tea party is trying to capture.”
    So now that you have made your views and opinions abundantly clear, let me proceed to my second point…
    America already HAS that booklet, Ms. Jarrett. It was inspired by God Almighty and printed with the blood of the Patriots who sacrificed their lives to remove themselves from tyranny and repression. And inside that booklet are the designs, laws, and hopes of a people entrusted with the greatest gift from God, and the most incredible experiment in the history of human government. I believe you know well the booklet I speak of. It has been a source of contention, frustration, obstacle, and hatred for the Obama administration and the socialist/Marxist advocates who have attempted to bring America to her knees since January 2009… The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution of the United States of America. (You can view these original documents at the National Archives just down the street from your office and see them for yourself!)
    Whilst I am aware you are quite familiar with these documents, I would like to take the opportunity to provide you a refresher course on their content, none of which is open to your (or Obama’s) interpretation…
    “When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation…

    As you can see so simply, Valerie, the Founding Fathers were adamantly opposed to the tyrannical form of government you and Barrack Obama wish to institute amongst the American people, so much so that their very signatures on the bottom of this document provided for them a Death Warrant. Their faith, convictions, and moral strength sustained them throughout the American Revolution and provided the foundation for a new government amongst men, one that cherished individual, God-given rights, equality, and the liberties and freedoms that came with their sacrifice. This was a time of men, and when the last report from gunfire resonated across the American landscape, they had brought forth from their blood the genesis of a Nation of Exceptionalism. That commitment led to the establishment of the greatest governing document in the history of mankind… The Constitution of the United States of America.
    Within our Constitution, which you so conveniently attempt to deny, are the Rights and Freedoms of the people of this great Nation; the restrictions of government; and the undeniable duty and responsibility we have to ensure, by rebellion if necessary, that never again may a nation enslave her people by treason and tyranny (something you should consider carefully, Ms. Jarrett…)

    But the Founding Fathers weren’t perfectly satisfied with the Constitution and wished to expand upon its meaning and definitions to ensure there were NO questions as to their thoughts and intentions, and that every American citizen was afforded the same equality, rights, and privileges without prejudice or qualification. THAT, Ms. Jarrett, is the difference between a REPUBLIC and a DEMOCRACY (the former protecting the rights of the INDIVIDUAL, whilst the latter provides for the denial of those rights in favor of, and advance of, MAJORITY rule). These are the first Ten Amendments to the Constitution, known as The Bill of Rights.
    For the sake of expediency, I just want to touch on a couple of the Amendments as they are really quite important to us and in essence lay out our rights and responsibilities to guard against the “fundamental change” in America and the establishment of tyranny you and the Obama administration have so fervently been advocating. Let’s start with the First…
    “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
    This should be quite simple for you and your followers, Valerie, and I am always baffled at the misunderstandings and interpretation. We as citizens of the United States have the God-given right to speak FREELY against our government, to assemble in protest, and to question our government’s actions and motives (both verbally and in print); and equally, we are free to worship God in any manner we wish. Additionally, it is our RIGHT and our DUTY to petition the government by any means necessary. In case you haven’t realized, this was a very poignant grievance within the Declaration against King George:
    “In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.”
    Now it may just be me, but that whole statement sounds hauntingly familiar in light of the actions of the Obama administration. But that’s just me, and of course 100 million of my Patriot friends. For the past three-and-a-half years, we have watched not only the Executive Branch of the federal government, but Legislative and Judicial as well, attempt to usurp, deny, and strip the American people of their First Amendment Rights through legislation, court ruling, and Obama’s favorite ~ Executive Order. From his refusal to enforce the Constitution and Rule of Law, to his failure as Commander-in-Chief to secure our nation’s borders and remove those illegal, criminal elements that have come to this country and taken advantage of our nation’s resources without contribution or loyalty, he has pandered to special-interest groups such as his Union supporters, homosexuals, Muslims, and illegal aliens in direct conflict with the Oath of Office he swore when he was inaugurated (contained in Article II, Section I). That, Ms. Jarrett, is a very serious dereliction of Constitutional duties (and one that was addressed in the Constitution, to wit):
    “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.” ~ Article III, Section 3
    So as you can see, Valerie, WE The People take these matters, and our responsibilities to question and resolve them, VERY seriously. Which brings me to my next point.
    Whilst the First Amendment is the basis of the freedoms and liberties afforded the American people, our right to be secure in those liberties, freedoms, and our persons, is further expanded up on by the Fourth Amendment:
    “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.” ~ Fourth Amendment
    But what say, our own government should turn against us? What recourse do we have? While we know we have a right and a DUTY to protest and protect those rights, how can this be accomplished against a government who views its citizens as enslaved subjects? That, my friend, is called the SECOND AMENDMENT… something our Founding Fathers were once again VERY clear and concise about.
    “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the RIGHT of the PEOPLE to KEEP and BEAR Arms, shall NOT be infringed.” ~ Second Amendment
    Let us be clear here, Ms. Jarrett– the Second Amendment in NOT about hunting, personal protection, or sport. It is about the citizens of this Nation protecting themselves against a TYRANNICAL government, one which we are seeing more and more of these days within our own borders under the Obama administration. From the illegal Fast & Furious operation to the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty, we have seen legislation passed and Executive Orders issued that attempt to weaken and prevent the American people from owning and maintaining firearms. Let me make something very clear to you, Ms. Jarrett… there will be blood on the streets of America, and on the hands of the administration, if EVER you attempt to remove from our homes or possession those instruments that provide us the ability to wage rebellion against an out-of-control Administration/Congress, or to restore this Nation to her previous exceptionalism. Understand though, we do not advocate the overthrow of the United States government, but rather a tyrannical administration seeking to strip away those rights, freedoms, and liberties forged in blood by the sacrifices of our forefathers, brothers, and sisters. A government maintained under the Constitution and her Amendments is perfect. It is those wishing that system of government irreparable harm who must be removed. And furthermore, I am proud to be one of the more than 89 million legal, registered gun owners who did NOT kill anyone today, and I have no plans to kill tomorrow either, unless circumstances require judicious action on my part.
    So in closing, let me remind you, Ms. Jarrett, and your mindless minions that we HAVE that “BOOKLET”, and I will be more than happy to forward you one if you so desire (or you can get one from The CATO Institute). But we GET YOU! WE are well aware of what your desires are for this most incredible Nation. The TEA Party is about a restoration of America and the government, not a complete absence of it. And be aware: we WILL, come November 6, 2012, achieve our goals. NEVER underestimate the resolve and determination of the American People. It’s happened countless times throughout our 236 year history, and for the enemies of freedom and liberty, it didn’t turn out too well for them.
    God bless you, Ms. Jarrett, and I hope this letter has served to remind you of the foundation, history, and fortitude of the greatest Nation on Earth. Semper Fi.

    Valerie Jarrett’s Bulging Bank Account

    Senior White House adviser and long-time Obama, communist confidant Valerie Jarrett’s role in a number of controversial Chicago housing developments has garnered her investments worth millions of dollars while highlighting the administration’s extensive business ties to presidential donors.
    Before joining the Obama administration in 2009, Jarrett was president and chief executive officer of the Habitat Company, a real estate development firm founded by major Democratic donor Daniel Levin. Before that, she served three years as commissioner of the Chicago Department of Planning and Development under Mayor Richard Daley.
    Jarrett currently owns an 11-percent equity interest in Kingsbury Plaza, a 46-story luxury apartment complex developed by Habitat between 2005 and 2007 at a cost of more than $100 million.
    She valued the investment at between $1 million and $5 million on her 2011 financial disclosure form, up from $250,001 in 2010. A Jarrett spokesman told the Washington Times that the investment was “a direct result of her 13 years working for Habitat.”
    Cook County records show the Kingsbury property is worth around $27.2 million, but thanks to a series of legal appeals beginning in 2003, the land and building are assessed at a much lower value for tax purposes. Since 2008, the property has been designated a “special commercial structure” and is taxed at a value of just $6.8 million, or 25 percent of the actual value.
    Asked how such a property could enjoy such a low taxable value, an official with the Cook County Assessor’s Office told the Free Beacon that the property’s owners “must have good attorneys.”
    In addition to Jarrett’s investment through her former employer, she received deferred compensation of more than $556,000 in January 2009, on top of her $302,000 salary the previous year.
    Levin, the firm’s founder, has close ties to the Obama administration and the Democratic Party. Levin and his wife, Fay Hartog Levin, are long-time acquaintances of the president’s, and have personally donated nearly $1 million to Democratic candidates and committees since 1989, including about $25,000 each to Obama.
    In 2009, President Obama appointed Hartog Levin ambassador to the Netherlands, a move that drew criticism from government accountability advocates. The president has a history of awarding top donors and fundraisers with ambassadorships and other administrations posts.
    The Levins each hold personal stakes in the Kingsbury development worth at least $1 million as of 2011.
    Jarrett’s involvement in Chicago real estate development between 1992 and 2009 was marred with controversy, much of which centered on Habitat’s role as the sole developer for “family public housing,” a status granted under a district court ruling in 1987.
    Under Jarrett’s leadership, Habitat oversaw the development of a number of public housing projects, one of which, in the Cabrini Green neighborhood, was dubbed a “national symbol of urban despair.” Others became so run-down the city had to ask the federal government to intervene.
    A 2003 Harvard Law Review article cited the decline of the Cabrini Green development as an embodiment of the negative consequence associated with the “privatization of public housing.”
    “They are rapidly displacing poor people, and these companies are profiting from this displacement,” Matt Ginsberg-Jaeckle of Southside Together Organizing for Power, a Chicago community organization, told the Boston Globe in 2008.
    Habitat and the Chicago Housing Authority in 2000 announced an ambitious, multi-million dollar “Plan for Transformation” in an effort to revitalize the city’s decrepit housing projects. The plan involved the establishment of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts, an accounting method through which state and local governments would subsidize redevelopment projects.
    Such financing often leads to an increase in property values in surrounding areas, benefitting developers such as Habitat. The Kingsbury property in which Jarrett owns a stake lies just outside a TIF district.
    The Cabrini Green neighborhood in 1997 was designated a “blighted” area, a portion of which was established as a TIF district. Thousands of families were displaced and many relocated to unsafe, unfinished housing projects elsewhere in the city. Experts questioned whether redevelopment resulted in a net benefit for the city.
    The city’s transformation plan included an effort to establish a separate TIF district just south of Cabrini Green in the Kingsbury neighborhood, a relatively well-off area that did not initially meet the Chicago Community Development Commission’s (CCDC) requirements for TIF status.
    The city ultimately approved the project on the grounds that the neighborhood was a “conservation area” and argued that its redevelopment would help revitalize the blighted Cabrini Green area.
    The CCDC held a public hearing on February 29, 2000, regarding the Kingsbury development project, but it is unclear if Jarrett or other Habitat executives testified in favor of granting TIF status.
    The transcripts of such hearings are typically turned over the Chicago Municipal Library as a matter of public record. The transcript from that particular hearing, however, was never provided. A CCDC representative told the Free Beacon the document was unavailable but could be requested through the Freedom of Information Act.
    The White House and the Habitat Company did not return requests for comment.

    In the fall of 2012, when New York Times reporter Jo Becker was working on a profile of longtime Obama confidante and senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, the White House press office circulated a list of talking points to ensure that potential sources would be on the same page regarding "The Magic of Valerie."

    The memo, whose existence was first reported by Mark Leibovich in his bestseller This Town, described Jarrett as "an incredibly kind, caring and thoughtful person...the perfect combination of smart, savvy, and innovative," with "an enormous capacity for both empathy and sympathy."

    The hyperbole is particularly rich in view of all the words that have been written about Jarrett's role as "the single most influential person in the Obama White House" (which tend to paint a decidedly less flattering picture), and is perhaps more aptly captured by another talking point that appears to have slipped through the editing process: "Valerie is someone here who others inside the building know they can trust. (need examples.)"

    Jarrett's critics have no dearth of examples. She has been variously described by her critics within the Obama administration as the "Night Stalker," on account of her general ruthlessness, as well as her tendency to follow the president into the White House residence after hours; "She Who Must Not Be Challenged"; and Obama's "Rasputin." Former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, who clashed often with Jarrett, likened her and senior aide Peter Rouse to Saddam Hussein's maniacal sons, Uday and Qusay.

    Over the past several years, a clearer picture of Jarrett's role has emerged thanks to the plethora of books and articles published about the inner workings of the Obama White House. She is equal parts fangirl and enforcer, inspiring fear and envy in her (many) detractors, a true believer who was in on the ground floor of the Obama Cult and will be the last to leave.

    Jarrett's personal friendship with the president and first lady dates back more than two decades, before the couple was married, and before Barack Obama launched his political career in Chicago. The president has said he views her "like a sibling" and trusts her "completely." As result, she enjoys "unlimited, almost mystical access" to the president, write Politico's Mike Allen and Jim VandeHei, and is known as "The Keeper of the Essence," the "defender, protector, and avenger" of all things Obama. She is always "mindful of being more than just an aide," as one senior White House adviser told Leibovich. Former adviser David Axelrod, on the other hand, described Jarrett's closeness to the president as a "manageable problem."

    Jarrett's official job description is "somewhat vague," Becker writes, noting that at least part of her role is to serve as "chief liaison to the business community, state and local governments, and the professional left," but her influence is undeniable. She commands a staff of nearly three dozen and has a hand in decisions ranging from the invitation list to state dinners and what gifts to give foreign leaders, to who should be nominated to the Supreme Court, appointed to a vacant ambassadorship, or awarded the President Medal of Freedom. When Warren Buffett visits the White House for lunch, the table is set for three.

    White House memos are littered with references to what "VJ thinks" or "VJ says." When Standard & Poor's downgraded the country's credit rating in August 2011, she was among a select few invited to Camp David to discuss how to manage the fallout. She is "effectively the chief of staff," in the words of one White House adviser, which likely explains her problematic relationships with actual chiefs of staff such as Emanuel and his successor Bill Daley, who did not appreciate the fact that Jarrett went behind his back (and Vice President Joe Biden's) to help orchestrate the administration's controversial contraception mandate, along with her "good friend," Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

    Tellingly, despite presiding over one of the greatest political disasters in recent memory, Sebelius remains at her post, whereas Jarrett's enemies rarely stick around for long. The White House reportedly went to great lengths last month to out a senior official -- Jofi Joseph of the National Security Council -- who had been operating an anonymous Twitter account, @natsecwonk, which was highly critical of the administration. Among Joseph's offending tweets: "I'm a fan of Obama, but his continuing reliance and dependence upon a vacuous cipher like Valerie Jarrett concerns me." Joseph was fired immediately after his identity was discovered in a sting operation coordinated by the White House and State Department.

    Jodi Kantor's The Obamas revealed a September 2010 clash between Jarrett and former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs. When Jarrett informed him that Michelle Obama was not pleased with his work, Gibbs went ballistic, telling Jarrett she didn't "know what the f*** you're talking about," and that if Mrs. Obama did not like it, "f*** her too." Gibbs told Kantor that after the episode, he no long took Jarrett seriously "as an adviser to the president." He left the White House six months later. Double Down authors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann note that other senior staffers who witnessed the exchange were fairly certain that Gibbs "had just sealed his doom." According to Leibovich, Jarrett exuded a "hint of smugness at having outlasted her detractors" during an interview earlier this year.

    Bob Woodward writes in The Price of Politics about former Office of Management and Budget director Peter Orszag's attempt to give Jarrett a heads-up about an October 2010 Bloomberg column he was writing that was critical of the president's reluctance to take on medical-malpractice reform. After e-mailing a draft and asking for feedback, Orszag received a simple thanks from Jarrett. Orszag was understandably surprised when, after the column was published, he received an e-mail from Jarrett lambasting him for his disloyalty. She let it be known that Orszag had burned his bridges with the White House, in a tone that Woodward described as "Politburo finality."

    Jarrett considers herself someone who takes criticism "constructively" and is "low on drama," just like her boss. In an interview with Esquire in April, Jarrett recalled being asked during a panel discussion whether it was more important to be respected or liked. "My view is you can actually be both," she said, "if you add being decent." Yet her critics in the White House have complained of living in fear of Jarrett's scolding late-night phone calls, and being on the receiving end of her signature putdown: "You are hurting the president." Obama biographer Jonathan Alter writes in The Center Holds: Obama and His Enemies that Jarrett's colleagues even fear being called "sweetie," which is Jarrett's subtle way of telling someone he or she is still in the doghouse.

    Jarrett's actual record as an "adviser," or whatever you want to call it, is marred with blunders. In 2009 she boasted about how "delighted" she was to have recruited Van Jones for the position of White House "green czar." Jones served only a few months before resigning amid allegations that he had dabbled in 9/11 Trutherism. She reportedly urged President Obama to personally address the International Olympic Committee in Switzerland on behalf of Chicago's bid for the 2012 Summer Games, which was swiftly rejected. Jarrett also met with chief Solyndra investor George Kaiser at the White House, and despite warnings about the solar company's failing financial health, signed off on a scheduled appearance by the president at Solyndra's headquarters in California.

    Many have questioned, in particular, the president's decision to make Jarrett his official ambassador to the business community, which has had an uneasy relationship with the White House since Obama took office. In 2011, Jarrett took offense when Ivan Seidenberg, then CEO of Verizon and chair of the President's Business Roundtable, remarked that he thought "the president has shown a willingness to learn," intending it as a compliment. Jarrett slammed the "offensive" remarks in an e-mail to Motorola CEO Greg Brown and reportedly reached out to other members of the roundtable to make clear that Seidenberg had insulted the president.

    Larry Summers, former head of the National Economic Council, thought having Jarrett represent the White House was a mistake. Business leaders "felt patronized and offended by Valerie," Summers told Woodward, largely due to her tendency to insist that she spoke for the president, and an approach to problem-solving that involved little more than scheduling multiple lunch meetings. One CEO complained to Alter that "when we go to the White House, we talk to people we wouldn't hire." Alter himself has likened Jarrett's role in the White House to "the CEO putting his sister in charge of marketing."

    Ironically enough, Jarrett has considerably more experience as an executive than her boss. Before joining the Obama administration in 2009, Jarrett was president and chief executive officer of the Habitat Company, a Chicago real-estate firm founded by Daniel Levin, a major Democrat donor. Before that, she served three years as commissioner of the Chicago Department of Planning and Development under Mayor Richard Daley, and served as chair of the Chicago Transit Board from 1995 to 2005.

    Jarrett was able to parlay her position at Habitat, which during her tenure oversaw the development of some of the most notorious public-housing slums in the country, a number of which required federal intervention to salvage, into an 11 percent equity interest in Kingsbury Plaza (a luxury high-rise in downtown Chicago), which interest is valued between $1 million and $5 million. In 2009, Obama appointed Levin's daughter, Fay Hartog Levin, ambassador to the Netherlands, a move that drew criticism from government-accountability activists.

    Jarrett appears to be well versed in the transactional politics for which Chicago is known. The 2009 bestseller Game Change recounts an early meeting Obama had with Senate majority leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) in which Reid urged the prospective candidate to run. Jarrett wanted to know what was in it for them. "Is he going to endorse you and support you?" she asked Obama, who said no. "So what good is it for him to tell you that you should run if he's not going to help you?"

    Jarrett got her start in politics in 1987 when she left her job at a prestigious law firm to become a legal staffer for Harold Washington, Chicago's first black mayor. She described the transition -- to "a cubicle...with a window facing an alley" -- as "a little jarring," but that felt that her devotion to the cause was such that "I can get used to this cubicle."

    By all accounts, she has since grown accustomed to the trappings of life as a senior adviser to the president, apparently being among the first Obama staffers to survey the West Wing for office space, much to the annoyance of Rahm Emanuel. (She was ultimately given Karl Rove's old office.)

    In June 2009, David Axelrod received a security detail after the FBI found evidence that the white-supremacist perpetrator of a fatal shooting at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC, had considered Axelrod a target. Jarrett received one as well, although the impetus was unclear. Aides suspected a simple case of "earpiece envy," and even confronted Jarrett about the poor optics of the arrangement, but were politely rebuffed. In 2011, she famously tried to order a drink from a four-star general she mistook for a waiter, which presumably isn't the kind of mistake made by your average cubicle dweller.

    Richard Wolffe describes a scene in which Obama and Jarrett arrived via helicopter in Chicago for the president's first visit home after the inauguration in 2009. Obama looked down at the bumper-to-bumper traffic generated by his arrival. "We shouldn't have come here in rush hour," Obama remarked, but Jarrett shot back: "You may not be enjoying your new life, but I am."

    Notwithstanding their two-decades-long friendship, it is easy to understand why President Obama insists on keeping Jarrett within his inner circle. She has described him as "just too talented to do what ordinary people do" and "the kind of person who, the day before the final exam, would open the book, read it, and get an A." Next to the president himself, Obama has no greater fan; and judging from his latest poll numbers, he's going to need all the flattering encouragement he can get.

    Don’t blink or you might miss it.


    Earlier this week during NBC’s exclusive peek inside the world of Valerie Jarrett, Obama’s closest adviser, the network’s cameras picked up on a little something that may have gone unnoticed. It has to do with three little figurines placed in her office, right in front of a picture of Jarrett.


    Those figurines? They’re all bowing down to her.

    It went unmentioned in the news package (but those who put it together did find it significant enough to show). You can watch it at the one-minute mark:


    So does Jarrett really consider herself someone to be worshiped? Although her personality has come under intense scrutiny in the past — and there are even accusations that she wields immense power in the Oval Office — the figurines could just be an inside joke or a white elephant gift for all we know. In fact, it could just be a way to poke fun at those who say she really runs the White House.



    Either way, it is a fun fact worth noting.

    A quick Internet search reveals that the figurines are part of a picture frame that’s available for purchase. How much? According to the site AllModern.com it can be yours for $18.47:
