Senate report: Benghazi was "preventable" and the attackers tied to Al Qaeda groups

    FoxNews.com

A comprehensive report by the Senate Intelligence Committee definitely declared that individuals tied to Al Qaeda groups were involved in the Benghazi attack, challenging recent claims that the terror network was not a factor.

The report was released Monday, nearly one year after then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, under congressional questioning over the nature of the attack, shouted at lawmakers: “What difference, at this point, does it make?”

The administration initially claimed the attack sprung out of a protest, but has since given a more complicated assessment. Still, administration officials all along have downplayed Al Qaeda involvement, recently seizing on a New York Times report that supported those claims.

While the report does not implicate Al Qaeda “core” -- the leadership believed to be in the Pakistan region -- it does blame some of the most influential Al Qaeda branches, including Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM).

“Individuals affiliated with terrorist groups, including AQIM, Ansar al-Sharia, AQAP, and the Mohammad Jamal Network, participated in the September 11, 2012, attacks,” the report said. The militant Ansar al-Sharia was, separately, labeled by the State Department as a terror group last week, in part over its alleged involvement in the Benghazi strike.

The Senate committee report stressed that the intelligence still suggests the attack was not “highly coordinated,” but rather “opportunistic” – possibly put in place in “short order” after protests over an anti-Islam film elsewhere in the region.

“It remains unclear if any group or person exercised overall command and control of the attacks,” the report said. The report, though, reiterated that there was no protest in Benghazi before the attack.

The Senate panel report also dove extensively into what went wrong at the U.S. mission in Benghazi before the attack. The committee determined the attack was “preventable” and the administration failed to respond to “ample” warnings that security was deteriorating before Sept. 11, 2012.

The report faulted the State and Defense departments. It also cited the failure of the Obama administration to "bring the attackers to justice."

Specifically, the report said the intelligence community provided “ample strategic warning” that security in eastern Libya was deteriorating and U.S. personnel “were at risk.” The report said multiple “tripwires” were crossed signaling security problems, and the State Department should have increased its security posture in response. This included an Aug. 16, 2012, cable from Ambassador Chris Stevens raising security concerns, and prior attacks on westerners in Benghazi.

The report also detailed a possible failed ambush, where attackers tried to lure the CIA into the hospital where Stevens' body was being held.

The CIA did not take the bait.

"The committee worked on a bipartisan basis to investigate the various allegations that have come out since the terrorist attacks in Benghazi in September 2012 and to get to the truth about what happened leading up to, during and after the attacks,” Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said in a statement, adding she hopes the report puts “conspiracy theories” to rest.

Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., top Republican on the panel, also said the report provides “needed and deserved answers.”

“In spite of the deteriorating security situation in Benghazi and ample strategic warnings, the United States Government simply did not do enough to prevent these attacks and ensure the safety of those serving in Benghazi,” he said.

Hillary's stupid remark about "What difference" was simple and pure obfuscation to guilt people into looking in another direction. She lost that gambit.

Senate panel on Benghazi: 'The attacks were preventable'

    By Carrie Dann, NBC News
A Senate panel faults the State Department and intelligence agencies for failing to thwart the September 11, 2012 assault on American outposts in Benghazi and says that the attacks were “preventable.”

In a statement on the declassified report released by the Senate Intelligence Committee, lawmakers said that “the attacks were preventable, based on extensive intelligence reporting on the terrorist activity in Libya—to include prior threats and attacks against Western targets—and given the known security shortfalls at the U.S. Mission.”

The panel takes both the State Department and the intelligence community to task for failing to upgrading security despite the warning signs that an attack could happen. Its findings largely mirror those of an independent review board, which released its findings in December 2012.

"The State Department should have increased its security posture more significantly in Benghazi based on the deteriorating security situation on the ground and [intelligence community] threat reporting on the prior attacks against Westerners in Benghazi," the Senate report states.

A long-awaited Senate report on the 2012 deadly attack in Benghazi spreads blame amongst the State Department and intelligence agencies. NBC's Ayman Mohyeldin joins Richard Lui.

The bipartisan report includes over a dozen recommendations for the prevention of future security breaches.

Its findings are based on a series of hearings, staff briefings and in-person meetings, interviews with U.S. personnel on the ground during the attacks, and reviews of documents.

The Benghazi attack left four Americans dead, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.

While members of the committee stated they have "differing views" on the controversial talking points provided to lawmakers by the CIA in the wake of the attack, lawmakers agree that intelligence officials should simply provide lawmakers the facts in the future.

"In responding to future requests for unclassified talking points from Congress, the Intelligence Community should simply tell Congress which facts are unclassified and let Members of Congress provide additional context for the public," they write.

Benghazi Timeline Proves Obama A Failure Or Traitor

The government watchdog group that revealed that President Barack Obama failed to attend over half of his daily intelligence briefings (known officially as the Presidential Daily Brief, or PDB) released a devastating Benghazi timeline Wednesday.

It reveals Obama’s schedule in the week leading up to the terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

Release of the Government Accountability Institute (GAI) Benghazi timeline comes as a new Senate report published Wednesday concluded that “the attacks were preventable.”

As the GAI timeline reveals, Obama failed to attend his daily intelligence briefing for the five consecutive days leading up to the September 11, 2012 attack of the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi.

The Benghazi timeline catalogues Obama’s continuous campaigning even as terrorist forces vowed Libyan attacks and State Department officials were warned of security threats.

The day following the deadly attacks, Obama departed for a Las Vegas campaign rally.

MSNBC Blames Chris Stevens For His Own Death – MSNBC Desperate To Defend Hillary Clinton From Scrutiny…

Posted on January 16, 2014 by sundance

Absolutely desperate to shield former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton from accountability MSNBC goes ‘all in’ to blame Ambassador Stevens for his own death in Benghazi Libya.

    http://www.mrctv.org/videos/katty-ka...h-hillary-hook
The Democrat chaired Senate Intelligence Committee released an outline yesterday placing the blame and failure to protect the State Dept. Benghazi consulate squarely on the shoulders of the State Dept itself.

As head of the State Department during 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Hillary Clinton carries the burden of accountability.

Dem Senator: The State Department Really 'Screwed Up' in Benghazi

    Guy Benson | Jan 21, 2014

    Recommend this article

Expect Sen. Angus King, a Democrat-aligned Senator from Maine, to get a less-than-pleasant phone call from Team Hillary over this remark on CNN. Time to add Sen. King to the enemies list?

"There’s no question the State Department screwed up here," King said. “There should be accountability, in my opinion. Who did make that decision in light of all that information, and why, and I think that’s a very fair question. I’m surprised and disappointed. I know some people have been shifted around, but if accountability means anything, it means somebody paying a price for having made a disastrous decision....I haven’t seen any real accountability, and I think that’s been a failure in this whole process,” he said.

He's plainly correct about the lack of accountability. Several State Department staffers were shuffled around, but no one was fired. Prominent figures who helped mislead the public about the nature of the attacks were promoted. And 16 months after the fact, none of the the terrorists responsible for the killings have been brought to justice -- a quest that's currently "stalled," according to the Washington Post. Hillary Clinton was the Secretary of State when the Benghazi massacre took place on the highly symbolic anniversary of 9/11. She was informed in real time that the raid was a coordinated terrorist attack, yet allowed the administration to distort that fact for public consumption. Her chief of staff and assistant secretary dressed down and demoted Gregory Hicks for questioning the White House's talking points, and for cooperating with a Congressional investigation. The US' security chief in Libya testified that Clinton "absolutely" would have been aware of repeated requests for an increased security presence in the increasingly perilous city; these requests were ignored and denied. A recent bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report slammed the State Department's actions before and after the deadly raid. The Clinton State Department renewed its lease on its acting consulate in Benghazi just months before Amb. Stevens was assassinated. The lease included an effective waiver, allowing the facility to operate below minimum security standards. This decision was made despite two previous attempted attacks, including a bombing in July of 2012. Meanwhile, Hillary's political team has started fretting that an unhelpful narrative is beginning to take root:

Dems in Clinton's orbit growing alarmed that conventional wisdom of "minimal accomplishments" is taking hold http://t.co/N2y3MYNZu5
    — Philip Rucker (@PhilipRucker) January 20, 2014
Hugh Hewitt memorably stumped a Politico reporter recently by asking the simple question of what Hillary Clinton has actually accomplished. Not reputational stuff, not miles she's traveled, not name recognition metrics -- tangible accomplishments. As Americans assess Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State, they'll remember America's incoherent posture on Syria (which eventually blew up in our faces), a messy, hands-off war in Libya (which blew up in our faces), and massive tumult in Egypt -- during which America appeared to have zero influence. And there was the embarrassing Russian 'reset' gaffe, plus the far more damaging failed reset itself. There is one major Obama-era accomplishment for which Hillary does deserve considerable credit, however. Obamacare, with all its various betrayals promises, was her plan:

I'll leave you with this. "We don't really know..."

‘Top Secret’ Documents Implicate Obamas, Clintons

By Shoebat Foundation on January 23, 2014 in Blog, General
By Walid Shoebat and Ben Barrack
Shocking documents (screen shots at bottom of this post) by Egyptian security forces monitoring the movements of Malik Obama’s Islamic Da’wa Organization (IDO) and the father (Essam el-Haddad) of a former Clinton employee (Gehad El-Haddad) sheds further light on the nefarious dealings of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. These documents could implicate the Obamas and the Clintons as being complicit in endangering national security.
‘Top Secret’ Document implicates Clintons and Obamas.

Al-Masry Network also published the claims of intelligence sources showing that Malik Obama’s Organization is the main sponsor to Islamize the Nuba area, Aswan and Luxor. The Aswan region is a territory in southeastern Egypt that borders northern Sudan, which includes a long stretch of the Nile river. During the Mohammed Mursi regime, both Egypt and Sudan (under Omar al-Bashir) would have presented an opportunity to work toward the slow erasure of the border between the two nations. Such negotiations in Aswan would have predictably caused Egypt’s Security Forces great concern.
    Aswan region in southeastern Egypt.

The younger Haddad, who worked as City Director for five years at the William J. Clinton Foundation, also worked with his father; both men were the closest of advisers to Mursi. Both Essam and Gehad were arrested late last year – after Mursi’s ouster – and had their assets frozen.
Gehad el-Haddad: Son of Essam, former Clinton employee.

The Al-Masry report seems to indicate that Malik Obama’s role within the Sudanese branch of the IDO is much more significant than previously thought (translated):
“Authorities within Egypt’s security apparatus have warned over the past two and a half years of the movements of the Islamic Da’wa Organization (IDO), based in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum, headed by businessman Kenyan owner Aboonju Obama (Malik), the elder brother of U.S. President Barack Obama, according to security authorities who are privy to the details of the investigation. One official said the organization and its president, a close friend of the President of Sudan Omar al-Bashir, support the Muslim Brotherhood with money, as well as the international organization of the group…”
The article further reports that Malik has headed the IDO not only in Kenya but leads the organization headquartered in Khartoum and “overseen by Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir”. His role allegedly includes assisting and regulating the global Muslim Brotherhood agenda.
    Haddad and Ali
One thing is clear; Essam and Gehad aren’t just close family members; they were close collaborators. Essam had another partner in crime as well. His name is Ayman Ali. Via El-Fagr (translated):
“Essam Haddad and Ayman Ali worked as former advisers to the president, Mohamed Morsi, and are in a high-security prison (Al-Aqrab) in Egypt. Both are charged with major espionage with foreign countries.”
    Haddad and Ali

Without reading too much between the lines, that “major espionage involving foreign countries” most likely includes “the Obama administration” when Hillary Clinton was the Secretary of State. Ali was heavily involved in a group identified by the U.S. as a terrorist entity in 2004 – Taibah, via el-Fagr (translated):
“Ayman Ali created cadres for the Muslim Brotherhood in the region through an organization called Taibah International in 2004… the U.S. government identified it as a terrorist organization for funding terrorist groups… Ayman is accused of transferring money from his account to a number of terrorist cells in various countries of the world. He settled in Austria until he was called to Egypt after the January 25, 2011 and was appointed adviser to Mursi.”
    Mohammed Mursi with Essam el-Haddad.

As for its record in funding terrorism, the el-Haddad family has the equivalent of a terrorist rap sheet, via Estkal (translated):
“Al-Haddad family worked with the International Islamic Relief Organizations.”
In August 2006, the Treasury Department also designated the Philippine and Indonesian branch offices of the MWL-founded IIRO as terrorist entities “for facilitating fundraising for al-Qaida and affiliated terrorist groups.”
Further evidence that Gehad is not just an innocent victim of circumstance has to do with the family he married into. His wife is the daughter of Dr. Mahmoud Abu Zeid, who is a leader within the Muslim Brotherhood Guidance Bureau. Gehad is also the nephew of Mohammed Ibrahim, who is a member of the leadership within the Guidance Bureau. This all adds up to mean that the longtime Clinton employee is one of the primary players within the Muslim Brotherhood regime.
The cooperation between Sudan’s terror state and the Muslim Brotherhood is corroborated by former Muslim Brotherhood leadership member and insider from 1985 – 2002, Tharwat El-Kherbawy, whom we wrote about earlier this month. El-Kherbawy’s assessment of the Muslim Brotherhood’s connection with Sudan comports with the intelligence reporting as well, via Al-Rakoba (translated):
“Kherbawi said that the Muslim Brotherhood in Sudan, led by the ruling al-Bashir of Sudan has turned to the Brotherhood’s interest and not the interest of Sudanese. He also revealed that Omar al-Bashir is a member of the International Organization of the Muslim Brotherhood.”
Tharwat El-Kherbawy: Muslim Brotherhood Insider’s claims corroborate ‘top secret’ documents.

One of the reasons for the meetings in Aswan may have had something to do with furthering the territorial goals of the Brotherhood, which would have caused nationalistic Egyptians great concern. Nubia is a region that is currently inside both Egypt and the Sudan. If the IDO was expressing interest in the annexation of all of Nubia, the border between the two countries would change, which could set the stage for dissolving it altogether. In essence, the dissolution of the Egypt / Sudan border could commence and would become a microcosm for what the Muslim Brotherhood wants to do globally.
This would implicate the Mursi regime in an extremely serious Muslim Brotherhood plot involving both a U.S. State Department-designated State Sponsor of Terrorism in Sudan and the former government of Egypt.
Taken further, all of this information helps to explain why Egypt’s Security Forces and new government – under General Abdel Fatah al-Sisi — has seemingly taken great interest in Malik Obama. Back in August, former Egyptian Constitutional Court Justice named Tahani al-Jebali publicly expressed great interest and concern about Malik’s role in the International Muslim Brotherhood. Not long after al-Jebali made those charges, a complaint was filed with Egypt’s Attorney General (No. 1761) that echoed said charges.
Lerner: Granted Malik Obama’s foundation illegal tax exempt status.

In short, Malik Obama’s prominent role as Executive Director of the IDO, at minimum, implicates his brother in a serious conflict of interest matter relative to national security. That Malik was given illegal tax-exempt status by Lois Lerner may implicate his brother as an accessory to terror funding (this is why Lerner should be granted immunity for her testimony). So far, members of Congress who sit on such committees have shown no desire to do this. One such Congressman – Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) – has been well aware of the IRS scandal involving Malik Obama for several months and has called the charges “spot on”.
    Yet, he remains silent today.
    Kelly: Remains silent despite knowing.

Essam el-Haddad’s negotiations with the IDO implicate the Clintons – through el-Haddad’s son – in a serious conflict of interest matter as well.
That all says nothing of Hillary’s very close relationship with Huma Abedin, whose mother and Mursi’s wife are high-ranking colleagues inside the Muslim Sisterhood’s leadership.
(L): Hillary with Huma’s mother Saleha in Saudi Arabia. (R): Hillary with Huma.

    TRANSLATED DOCUMENTS
From the first ‘top secret’ document (translated):
In regard to: the monitoring of the activities of the IDO of Sudan in Egypt the following: Authorities within Egypt’s security apparatus in Aswan that the named Mahmoud Hamza, the Assistant to the Consul General of Sudan in Cairo and the name Barakat Allah, the representative of the Islamic Da’wa Organization (IDO) of Sudan have met the named Essam el-Haddad, a leader in the Muslim Brotherhood organization at the headquarters of the Consul General of Sudan in Aswan at 10:00 yesterday. The meeting lasted for two hours, after which Essam el-Haddad left the meeting carrying a diplomatic briefcase, most likely containing money. He left with the briefcase from the Aswan airport in a return trip to Cairo.
    Signed,

Mohammed Ashraf, Lt.

    Top Secret to the Director.
That first document – dated February 12, 2013 – identifies Essam el-Haddad – a close adviser to former Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi – who is clearly a collaborator with his son Gehad el-Haddad.

The second leaked document is dated a couple of months after the first and reports on another meeting in Aswan between officials from the IDO and Muslim Brotherhood (translated):
In regard to: the monitoring of the activities of the IDO of Sudan in Egypt the following: We have been informed by our branch in Aswan that the person named Dr. Ayman Salama, the Consul General of Sudan in Aswan, met a man named Dr. Mohammed Ali Bashr, the leader in the Muslim Brotherhood and a man named Ali Barakat Allah, the representative of the Muslim Brotherhood of Sudan at the headquarter consulate in Aswan. The meeting started at approximately 11:30 and lasted until 14:15. Dr. Mohammed Ali Bashr left for the Aswan airport to return to Cairo. The one named Ali Barakat Allah left for Sudan on a private jet.
It is worth noting that Ali Bashr is a product of the U.S. higher education system. He attained a Ph.D. from Colorado State University and was named as a visiting professor at another American university in 1998.

According to a Libyan intelligence document, the Muslim Brotherhood, including Egyptian President Morsi, were involved in the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, where several Americans, including U.S. ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, were killed.

Image of the Libyan intelligence document
On Wednesday, June 26, several Arabic websites, including Veto Gate, quoted the intelligence report, which apparently was first leaked to the Kuwaiti paper, Al Ra’i. Prepared by Mahmoud Ibrahim Sharif, Director of National Security for Libya, the report is addressed to the nation’s Minister of Interior.
It discusses the preliminary findings of the investigation, specifically concerning an “Egyptian cell” which was involved in the consulate attack. “Based on confessions derived from some of those arrested at the scene” six people, “all of them Egyptians” from the jihad group Ansar al-Sharia (“Supporters of Islamic Law), were arrested.
According to the report, during interrogations, these Egyptian jihadi cell members “confessed to very serious and important information concerning the financial sources of the group and the planners of the event and the storming and burning of the U.S. consulate in Benghazi…. And among the more prominent figures whose names were mentioned by cell members during confessions were: Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi; preacher Safwat Hegazi; Saudi businessman Mansour Kadasa, owner of the satellite station, Al-Nas; Egyptian Sheikh Muhammad Hassan; former presidential candidate, Hazim Salih Abu Isma’il…”
It should be noted that these findings are unsurprising: the supremacism of prominent Brotherhood figure Safwat Hegazi is such that he publicly declares the Brotherhood “will rule the world“; Saudi Mansour’s hate-mongering, pro-Brotherhood TV station repeatedly aired footage of the YouTube Muhammad movie inciting violence around the Muslim world; popular Sheikh Muhammad Hassan holds that smiling to non-Muslims is forbidden, except when trying to win them over to Islam; and Sheikh Hazim Abu Ismail is simply an openly anti-freedom, anti-infidel religious leader.
As for President Morsi, a video made during the consulate attack records people speaking in the Egyptian dialect: as they approach the beleaguered U.S. compound, one of them yells to the besiegers, “Don’t shoot—Dr. Morsi sent us!”
Update: On July 11, Tahrir News further validated the veracity of this document.

I have the feeling that there's something even more wrong with this Benghazi story than what people already suspect, maybe even a US/ Moslem Brotherhood aid conduit. A limited gradual disinformation and hangout to cover up something even more grossly immoral with the Obama Admin. foreign policy.

New Website Vows to Show You the Benghazi Documents the ‘White House Doesn’t Want You to Read’

    Jason Howerton

The Republican Party has launched a new website dedicated to providing the American people an array of documents related to the deadly Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attack on two U.S. compounds in Benghazi.

The website currently includes House and Senate committee reports of their investigations into the Benghazi attacks, transcripts and notes from several congressional committee hearings on the attack. However, the site will also be updated with new documents as they become available.

House Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) office said in a press release that the site was created to bring the “facts straight to the American people by way of hundreds of pages of documents and transcripts the White House doesn’t want you to read.”

“The investigation is ongoing, and the search for the truth continues, so new documents will be added as they are made available,” the release adds.

The homepage of GOP.gov/benghazi proclaims that the “fight for answers and justice” in the Benghazi investigation is still ongoing. The site accuses the White House of refusing to tell the “whole truth.”

    GOP.gov/benghazi

As reported by the Washington Post, the Senate Intelligence Committee released its much-anticipated report on Benghazi, placing blame on the State Department and intelligence community for not doing enough to stop the “preventable” attack. The report found that the State Department under Hillary Clinton neglected to provide more security at the compound despite warnings.

However, the report failed to find irrefutable evidence proving a political cover-up in the aftermath of the Benghazi attack. Some lawmakers allege this is due to stonewalling efforts by the Obama administration.

Benghazi attack could have been prevented if US hadn't 'switched sides in the War on Terror' and allowed $500 MILLION of weapons to reach al-Qaeda militants, reveals damning report

    • Citizens Committee on Benghazi claims the US government allowed arms to flow to al-Qaeda-linked militants who opposed Muammar Gaddafi
    • Their rise to power, the group says, led to the Benghazi attack in 2012
    • The group claims the strongman Gaddafi offered to abdicate his presidency, but the US refused to broker his peaceful exit
    • The commission, part of the center-right Accuracy In Media group, concluded that the Benghazi attack was a failed kidnapping plot
    • US Ambassador Chris Stevens was to be captured and traded for 'blind sheikh' Omar Abdel-Rahman, who hatched the 1993 WTC bombing plot

The Citizens Commission on Benghazi, a self-selected group of former top military officers, CIA insiders and think-tankers, declared Tuesday in Washington that a seven-month review of the deadly 2012 terrorist attack has determined that it could have been prevented – if the U.S. hadn't been helping to arm al-Qaeda militias throughout Libya a year earlier.

'The United States switched sides in the war on terror with what we did in Libya, knowingly facilitating the provision of weapons to known al-Qaeda militias and figures,' Clare Lopez, a member of the commission and a former CIA officer, told MailOnline.

She blamed the Obama administration for failing to stop half of a $1 billion United Arab Emirates arms shipment from reaching al-Qaeda-linked militants.

'Remember, these weapons that came into Benghazi were permitted to enter by our armed forces who were blockading the approaches from air and sea,' Lopez claimed. 'They were permitted to come in. ... [They] knew these weapons were coming in, and that was allowed..

'The intelligence community was part of that, the Department of State was part of that, and certainly that means that the top leadership of the United States, our national security leadership, and potentially Congress – if they were briefed on this – also knew about this.'

The weapons were intended for Gaddafi but allowed by the U.S. to flow to his Islamist opposition.

The Citizens Committee on Benghazi released its interim findings on April 22, 2014 in Washington. Pictured are (L-R) Clare Lopez, Admiral (Ret.) Chuck Kubic, Admiral (Ret.) James 'Ace' Lyons, former CIA officer Wayne Simmons and civil rights attorney John Clarke

    • On September 11, 2012 armed terror-linked militias attacked U.S. diplomatic outposts in Benghazi, Libya, killing four Americans and driving the United States out of that part of the country

'The White House and senior Congressional members,' the group wrote in an interim report released Tuesday, 'deliberately and knowingly pursued a policy that provided material support to terrorist organizations in order to topple a ruler [Muammar Gaddafi] who had been working closely with the West actively to suppress al-Qaeda.'

'Some look at it as treason,' said Wayne Simmons, a former CIA officer who participated in the commission's research.

Retired Rear Admiral Chuck Kubic, another commission member, told reporters Tuesday that those weapons are now 'all in Syria.'

'Gaddafi wasn't a good guy, but he was being marginalized,' Kubic recalled. 'Gaddafi actually offered to abdicate' shortly after the beginning of a 2011 rebellion.

'But the U.S. ignored his calls for a truce,' the commission wrote, ultimately backing the horse that would later help kill a U.S. ambassador.

Kubic said that the effort at truce talks fell apart when the White House declined to let the Pentagon pursue it seriously.

'We had a leader who had won the Nobel Peace Prize,' Kubic said, 'but who was unwilling to give peace a chance for 72 hours.'

In March 2011, Kubic said, U.S. Army Africa Commander General Carter told NBC News that the U.S. military was not actively targeting Muammar Gaddafi. That, Kubic revealed, was a signal to the Libyan dictator that there was a chance for a deal.

Gaddafi responded by 'verifiably ... pull[ing] his forces back from key rebel-held cities such as Benghazi and Misrata.'

Christopher Stevens served as the U.S. Ambassador to Libya from June 2012 to September 11, 2012 when he was killed in the attack

Then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in January 23 that it mattered little why the Benghazi diplomatic compound was attacked: 'What difference, at this point, does it make?'

Gaddafi wanted only two conditions to step down: permission to keeo fighting al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), and the lifting of sactions against him, his family, and those loyal to him.

The Obama administration's unwillingness to help broker a peaceful exit for the Libyan strongman, 'led to extensive loss of life (including four Americans)' when al-Qaeda-linked militants attacked U.S. diplomatic facilities in the city of Benghazi,' the commission told reporters.

The White House and the National Security Staff did not immediately respond to questions about the group's findings.

'We don't claim to have all the answers here,' said Roger Aronoff, whose center-right group Accuracy in Media sponsored the group and its work.

'We hope you will, please, pursue this,' he told reporters. 'Check it out. Challenge us.'

Retired Admiral Chuck Kubic said the White House refused to let the Pentagon pursue a peaceful exit for Muammar Gaddafi: 'We had a leader who had won the Nobel Peace Prize, but who was unwilling to give peace a chance for 72 hours'

The commission and AIM filed 85 document requests under the Freedom Of Information Act, hitting the Department of Defense, State Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Central Intelligence Agency with demand after demand.

But most of its information has come from insiders with deep knowledge of the flow of weapons in Libya and elsewhere in the African Maghreb.
Admiral James 'Ace' Lyons told the group that he believes the raid on the Benghazi compound was intended as a kidnapping exercise, aimed at snatching U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and demanding a prisoner swap for the 'blind sheikh' Omar Abdel-Rahman.

Abdel-Rahman is serving a life sentence in federal prison for planning the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center garage in New York City. He also masterminded a plan, later foiled, to blow up the United Nations, both the Lincoln and Holland tunnels, the George Washington Bridge and a federal building where the FBI had a base of operations.

A senior FBI source, Lyons said Tuesday, 'told me that was the plan.'

The attack, history shows, grew in intensity and resulted in the deaths of Stevens and three other U.S. personnel.

Lyons also said U.S. claims that it lacked the resources to mount a counterattack in time to save lives is false.

'I'm going to tell you that's not true,' he said. 'We had a 130-man unit of forces at Sigonella [AFB in Italy]. They were ready to go.'
'The flight time from Sigonella to Benghazi is roughly an hour.'

    • SHARE PICTURE

Killed: An image captured by a cellular phone camera shows the arrest of strongman Muammar Gaddafi in Sirte, Libya on October 20, 2011

Some of the group's claims strain credibility, including the assertion that the Obama administration's early effort to blame the Benghazi attack on a protest against a crude anti-Muslim YouTube video 'appears to have been well-coordinated with U.S.Muslim Brotherhood organizations as well as Islamic state members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).'

Those groups, the commission noted, 'all joined in condemnation of the video, and, even more troubling, issued calls for restrictions on Americans’ free speech rights.'

But Simmons, the former CIA officer, criticized the Obama administration on the familiar refrain of then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton exclaiming in a Senate hearing that it mattered little why the Benghazi facilities were struck.

'They believed they were going to be saved, that they were going to be rescued, but they weren't,' Simmons said of the four Americans who died.

'I know who made the decision, in my heart of hearts, to leave our war fighters there and be blown up. And then to have one of the most powerful politicians in our country sit there and say, "What difference does it make?" – should be an alarm bell for all Americans.

'It haunts me,' Simmons said. 'I play that line over, and over, and over, and over in my mind.'

The group has called for a Select Congressional Committee to investigate the Benghazi episode. A total of 189 House members have signed on to a bill that would create the committee, which would be bipartisan and have sweeping powers to subpoena the executive branch.

House Speaker John Boehner, Lopez said Tuesday, 'he blocked it. One has to wonder if he and Congress have had some sort of briefing on what happened.'

Kubic insisted that Congress is unable to break logjams in the Obama administration and find out what happened in the days leading up to and following the Benghazi attack without a new committee.

'If they don't have strong subpoena power, if they don't have the ability to do long-term cross examination, it won't work,' he said.

Benghazi Emails Show White House Effort to Protect Obama

Benghazi Emails Show White House Effort to Protect Obama

Staff attempted to insulate president’s policies from criticism ahead of election

    Susan Rice / AP

    BY: Adam Kredo Follow @Kredo0

Previously unreleased internal Obama administration emails show that a coordinated effort was made in the days following the Benghazi terror attacks to portray the incident as “rooted in [an] Internet video, and not [in] a broader failure or policy.”
Emails sent by senior White House adviser Ben Rhodes to other top administration officials reveal an effort to insulate President Barack Obama from the attacks that killed four Americans.
Rhodes sent this email to top White House officials such as David Plouffe and Jay Carney just a day before National Security Adviser Susan Rice made her infamous Sunday news show appearances to discuss the attack.
The “goal,” according to these emails, was “to underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, and not a broader failure or policy.”
Rice came under fierce criticism following her appearances on television after she adhered to these talking points and blamed the attack on a little-watched Internet video.
The newly released internal White House e-mails show that Rice’s orders came from top Obama administration communications officials.
“[W]e’ve made our views on this video crystal clear. The United States government had nothing to do with it,” Rhodes wrote in the email, which was released on Tuesday by the advocacy group Judicial Watch.
“We reject its message and its contents,” he wrote. “We find it disgusting and reprehensible. But there is absolutely no justification at all for responding to this movie with violence. And we are working to make sure that people around the globe hear that message.”
Rhodes also suggested that Rice tout Obama’s reputation as “steady and statesmanlike.”
“I think that people have come to trust that President Obama provides leadership that is steady and statesmanlike,” he wrote. “There are always going to be challenges that emerge around the world, and time and again, he has shown that we can meet them.”
Also contained in the 41 pages of documents obtained by Judicial Watch is a Sep. 12, 2012 email from Payton Knopf, the former deputy spokesman at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.
In this communication, Knopf informs Rice that senior officials had already dubbed the Benghazi attack as “complex” and planned in advance. Despite this information, Rice still insisted that attacks were “spontaneous.”
The newly released cache of emails also appear to confirm that the CIA altered its original talking points on the attacks in the following days.
Then-CIA Deputy Director Mike Morell is identified as the person who heavily edited the critical fact sheet.
“The first draft apparently seemed unsuitable … because they seemed to encourage the reader to infer incorrectly that the CIA had warned about a specific attack on our embassy,” states one email. “Morell noted that these points were not good and he had taken a heavy hand to editing them. He noted that he would be happy to work with [then deputy chief of staff to Hillary Clinton] Jake Sullivan and Rhodes to develop appropriate talking points.”
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said that the emails show the White House was most concerned with insulating Obama.
“Now we know the Obama White House’s chief concern about the Benghazi attack was making sure that President Obama looked good,” Fitton said in a statement. “And these documents undermine the Obama administration’s narrative that it thought the Benghazi attack had something to do with protests or an Internet video.”
“Given the explosive material in these documents, it is no surprise that we had to go to federal court to pry them loose from the Obama State Department,” Fitton said.

Confirmed: Benghazi Documents Point to White House on Susan Rice’s Bogus Talking Points

April, 29, 2014 — nicedeb Fox News’ Catherine Herridge reported on some new developments via Judicial Watch in the investigation into the Sept. 2012 Benghazi attack, including the release of documents that lead directly to the White House.
You will be not surprised to find that White House “fixer” Ben Rhodes wrote the memo emphasizing the importance of the youtube video to Obama’s paid hacks, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, Deputy Press Secretary Joshua Earnest, then-White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer, then-White House Deputy Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri, then-National Security Council Director of Communications Erin Pelton, Special Assistant to the Press Secretary Howli Ledbetter, and then-White House Senior Advisor and political strategist Davie Plouffe to disseminate to the public. In other words, the entire White House communications staff – public servants who work for the American people – provided political cover to the Regime during an election year, rather than provide the best information they had on an issue of great national importance, to the American public.
Under the subject “prep call with Susan,” Rhodes wrote that the goal for Rice’s appearances on Sunday talk shows would be “to underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, and not a broader failure or policy.”
The message was sent three days after the attacks, which left four Americans dead at a U.S. consulate and nearby CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya.
Days later, Rice would go on numerous Sunday news programs, including on Fox News Sunday, to falsely assert that the Benghazi attack was spontaneous and occurred during a protest over an anti-Islam video. Since that time, the White House has come under fierce criticism from Republicans, who allege that the administration altered the CIA’s talking points about how the Benghazi attack unfolded.
We now know that the attacks had nothing to do with the video, and everything to do with the Regime’s failure to secure and defend the compound in Benghazi.
    These people are disgusting.
You have to wonder – was it worth it to the Regime to invent the YouTube story? - Since so many of us knew it was BS from the start, and it’s just one more scandal to add to the their impressive list of scandals? But then – when I say “so many of us” I’m not talking about the public, at large, am I? The MSM went to bat for the Regime in the wake of the Benghazi attack – in many cases acting like unpaid members of Obama’s communication team (Candy Crowley comes to mind.) In the end, it would seem that the lies helped Obama limp across the finish line because most people believed the lies the the White House and the media disseminated.
FLASHBACK to Feb 23, 2013: Susan Rice – No Regrets over Benghazi Remarks:
President Barack Obama’s national security adviser, Susan Rice, said on Sunday she was not “100 percent correct” in her remarks after the deadly 2012 attack on a U.S. compound in Libya, but called it patently false to say she intentionally misled Americans about the incident.

Republican critics were not satisfied with her explanation, with Senator John McCain proclaiming himself “almost speechless.”

On Sept. 11, 2012, an attack by militants killed four Americans at the U.S. mission in Benghazi, including American Ambassador Christopher Stevens. Just days later, Rice appeared on news shows and stated that the attack was the work of a spontaneous crowd, instead of Islamic militants.

When Rice’s 2012 account proved incorrect, Republican lawmakers accused her of trying to protect Obama during his re-election campaign, which the White House disputed.

Appearing on the NBC program “Meet the Press” on Sunday, Rice said, “I commented that this was based on what we knew on that morning (and) was provided to me and my colleagues – and indeed to Congress – by the intelligence community. And that’s been well validated in many different ways since.”

“And that information turned out, in some respects, not to be 100 percent correct. But the notion that somehow I or anybody else in the administration misled the American people is patently false,” she added.

Rice said she did not have any regrets about the 2012 comments. She also said the United States remains committed to catching the perpetrators of the attack. “And we will stay on it until this gets done,” she added.
Does it make you rest easy at night knowing that this woman is the president’s National Security Advisor?

Gotcha? The Lyin’ King Owns Benghazi’s Smoking Gun

On Tuesday afternoon FOX reporter Catherine Herridge broke the news that a Senior White House aide, Ben Rhodes, had written an email to Susan Rice, instructing her to blame the Benghazi debacle on a spontaneous uprising over an-all-but-unknown video which had appeared on YouTube. Not only was a general direction indicated but specific instructions were provided.

The FOX News story provided details:

The Rhodes email, with the subject line: “RE: PREP Call with Susan: Saturday at 4:00 pm ET,’” was sent to a dozen members of the administration’s inner circle, including key members of the White House communications team such as Press Secretary Jay Carney. In the email, Rhodes specifically draws attention to the anti-Islam Internet video…The email lists the following two goals, among others:

“To underscore that these protests are rooted in an Internet video, and not a broader failure of policy.”

“To reinforce the President and Administration’s strength and steadiness in dealing with difficult challenges.”

FOX News wasn’t done: “The email goes on to state that the U.S. government rejected the message of the Internet video. ‘We find it disgusting and reprehensible. But there is absolutely no justification at all for responding to this movie with violence,’ the email stated.”

Sound familiar? It should; that line had blared from television screens and newspapers, non-stop, and was faithfully parroted by every member of the regime from the Lyin’ King down since the Benghazi travesty took place. Mr. Rhodes must, however, be corrected on one point. The video meme is not nearly as “disgusting and reprehensible” as is the outright lie, spanning years, that the most “transparent administration in history” has tried to shovel over the dead Americans in Benghazi and the living consciousness’ of outraged Americans.

BREAKING: Boehner to Form Select Committee on Benghazi

Posted: May 2, 2014 | Author: Pundit from another Planet | Filed under: Breaking News, Crime & Punishment | Tags: Americans, Ben Rhodes, Benghazi, John Boehner, Susan Rice, Trey Gowdy, White House |2 Comments
UPDATE: Other news organizations confirm the report below that House speaker John Boehner will announce the formation of a select committee on Benghazi, led by Rep. Trey Gowdy.
House Speaker John Boehner is “seriously considering” appointing a select committee to investigate the attacks on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, according to a senior GOP leadership aide. The move comes after the revelation of an email from a top Obama national security official, Ben Rhodes, instructing Susan Rice to focus on an anti-Muslim internet video to explain the attacks.
“For the first time we have clear and public evidence that the White House was more involved in misleading the American people than it had previous admitted. And, second, it’s now proven that the administration withheld relevant documents from a congressional subpoena request…”

“The new emails this week were the straw that broke the camel’s back,” says the aide. “The Speaker was furious to learn that the admininstration withheld relevant documents from a congressional subpoena. He’s sick and tired of this evasion and obstruction from the administration, and wants a solution to finally force accountability, get to the truth, and provide justice.”

“…the administration has now demonstrated it is willing to flagrantly defy such subpoena requests, compelling the House to consider taking the strongest actions possible in an effort to ensure Americans have the truth about what happened.”

Boehner, who has paid careful attention to the Benghazi developments since the attacks, has resisted calls to appoint a select committee, preferring to allow the various committees of jurisdiction to pursue investigations of their slices of the attacks on their own. Aides say Boehner continues to believe that the work of those committees has been valuable. “The current committees investigating the attack have done good work, using their authority, including subpoena authority, to gather facts, interview hundreds of witnesses, and conduct dozens of hearings. But this week’s events demonstrate a new level of stonewalling and obfuscation by the administration that requires a new level of investigation.”
The House Oversight and Reform Committee issued a subpoena for Benghazi-related documents in August of 2013, but the Rhodes email and a second set of talking points that originated with the White House were released to the public for the first time this week after Judicial Watch, a conservative research group, obtained them via a Freedom of Information Act request. For these reasons, according the aide, “the reasons for appointing a committee now are straightforward.” The aide continued: “For the first time we have clear and public evidence that the White House was more involved in misleading the American people than it had previous admitted. And, second, it’s now proven that the administration withheld relevant documents from a congressional subpoena request. While the existing investigatory committees in the House have full subpoena power, the administration has now demonstrated it is willing to flagrantly defy such subpoena requests, compelling the House to consider taking the strongest actions possible in an effort to ensure Americans have the truth about what happened.”
The details of the exact structure of the special committee are still under discussion, but a source tells THE WEEKLY STANDARD that Rep. Trey Gowdy, a lawmaker with a reputation for tough questioning of administration witnesses, is under consideration to chair it. Gowdy has participated in meetings of an ad hoc committee of House members from various committees of jurisdiction who have met informally to compare notes and shape strategy on the Benghazi investigations…(read more)

Got news for ya, Jay the Carney, no one is gonna stop talking about Benghazi now.

John Kerry Subpoenaed By House Committee To Testify On Benghazi

Secretary of State John Kerry has been subpoenaed by House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrel Issa, who has been investigating the events of Benghazi since they occurred. The subpoena will require Secretary Kerry to testify before the committee. Issa could have sent him an invitation, but a subpoena is a more serious motion that raises the issue to a higher level. This comes days after new emails have surfaced showing Ambassador Susan Rice being coached to blame a video on the Internet as the reason for the attack.

The House has subpoenaed Secretary of State John F. Kerry to force him to answer questions about how his department has handled questions about the Benghazi terrorist attack.

Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the Oversight Committee that has been investigating the attacks, sent a letter demanding Mr. Kerry appear and testify on May 21. He said the State Department has “shown a disturbing disregard” for its legal obligations to Congress.

“Compliance with a subpoena for documents is not a game,” Mr. Issa said in issuing a subpoena, which gives Mr. Kerry no choice but to appear. He could have issued an invitation, which would have given the secretary more leeway, but the subpoena raises the issue to a higher level.

The letter comes after the White House has struggled to explain why the administration didn’t turn over a document showing a top national security aide to President Obama coaching others on how to respond to questions in the wake of the Benghazi attacks. The aide urges that the focus be placed on an anti-Islam video — though both defense and intelligence community sources at the time had already disregarded the video as the reason for the attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi.

Mr. Issa said he had subpoenaed records that should have included that email, but the administration didn’t turn it over until forced to do so in a court challenge brought by Judicial Watch.

Bombshell: NSA Spokesman Says Obama Never Entered The Situation Room During Benghazi Attack

In a contentious interview with Bret Baier on Fox News, former NSA spokesperson Tommy Vietor admitted that Barack Obama never even entered the situation room even as the attack continued at the Benghazi consulate.
Ironically, he was trying to defend the president when he made this comments, by criticizing Fox News for airing reports that Obama watched the attack unfold from the Situation Room. Is it any better that he never bothered to check in and see what was going on?

Wouldn't it be great if this is the arrow that brings the zero administration to heel?

They didn't even need to lie about it! Well, unless of course they were running arms to the islamists...
