Obama Courts Latinos on Immigration Reform

President Obama is stepping up the pressure on Congress to fix, in his words our, "broken immigration system." In a campaign-style speech in El Paso, Texas courting his Latino voter base, Obama urged Congress to come up with a comprehensive reform strategy. He pushed for passage of the Dream Act, but did not unveil any other specific legislation or a timeline, raising questions on his true motive behind his latest amnesty push.

"I believe he's doing it for political reasons," said Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, one of the country's most vocal critics on Obama's lack of border enforcement and immigration policies. "I think that no one wants to talk about any of these other issues, until we get our borders secured."

The president's revived push on immigration started shortly after he announced his reelection campaign. Latino voters overwhelmingly supported Obama in the 2008 election.
