Default Falling Skies

Here's the thread for Falling Skies!

So far the 30 minutes I've seen of it, I like it. Which means it should be cancelled shortly.

    By the way, magazine FTW!

I have high hopes for this one.

Spielberg is involved though, so let's hope it's slightly gritty despite his involvement.

Noah Wyle has also done a bunch of "family" tv. So I'm not sure what to expect.

Ack! It's 9:41. I'm not sure I've ever been up this late...I think if i'm still up at 10, I turn into a fuzzy creature answering to the name Gizmo.

I DVR'd it but can't watch until tomorrow so no effing spoilers yet I'm encouraged if Ryan likes it though and like Malsua I hope the Spielberg influence doesn't "soften" it up to much so to speak. It's got to be better than V.

After watching the premier, I'll be making sure to catch this every week.

Seems like casting was done pretty well. I like Will Patton in his role as the militia commander (reminds me of his role in The Postman but with less sociopathy!). Moon Bloodgood is easy on the eyes. Noah Wyle is an interesting choice for the father, want to see how he pans out in the role. And of course, Capt. Dale Dye is awesome!

So far, it looks like they did a pretty good job on the aliens. They look plenty scary and interesting.

One thing I took note of between the premier and the previews of upcoming episodes is that it seems they are actually treating the subject of religion with some respect. Good to see that for once.

Please do not give Malsua any waterafter dark!

So far so good as to Falling Skies. I had hoped they would have given more attention to the invasion, maybe later on this summer.

I suspect they will be. In the teaser for following episodes they had sort of a "Why are they here? What do they want? Find out..." bit.

So far I liked it, writing and effects are decent for a tv show. One thing I really liked was
when they were in the food dc, I noticed the aliens had 4-6 legs and the robots had 2. Then, not to longer, that fact was discussed and I'm curious as to what factor that may play.
Dale Dye, that's who that was! Could not remember his name, thanks Ryan

I watched it and thought it was not too bad.

    Will probably watch more.

Luckily, I DVRed it - there was way too many commercials.

Granted I don't watch much TV, so I'm a little biased.

    Except.:
When the BGs caught the blond, and told them to put their guns down.

Never, ever, give up your guns.

Look where it got them: in flex cuffs.

    Fucking stupid.
From Hulu: Results 1-20 of 61 for falling skies

The first page and a half of results are correct, but they all say, "excerpt."

Maybe check Hulu every few days.

You know, I forgot to post about my impressions about the second ep...

I do think they need to slowly shift the focus away from the civilians in the group and put more focus on the freedom fighters. I understand the story tie in with the children being rescued from the aliens (don't think I'm really giving anything away with that) and that focusing on the family aspects helps bring in other demographics besides guys that want to see aliens get blowed up but, I think it is slowing down the story.

A good example of a show that tied in just enough "family" to the main story without detracting from the show was Jericho. That's the formula they need to follow with Falling Skies.

And WTF with the gang leader? That was kind of out of left field...

    Everyone still watching this show?

I thought last night's episode was really good. Liked the name of the episode too...

A shame the season is only 10 episodes, especially after the hugely long wait for it to come back on.

I've been watching too, some episodes are better than others. Like Ryan, I enjoyed last nights episode quite a bit. The thing that impressed me most was the way a couple of the scenes were filmed. At least two scenes were very long takes with multiple characters interacting with each other at different times while they made their way around the camp. These types of scenes are extremely difficult, everything has to work perfectly and as a result it usually takes several attempts before they get it right. You see it in movies but very rarely do they attempt that on tv. One of these scenes starts with a man and women getting ammo and I believe the other took place earlier inside the hospital.

There are several directors known for this and numerous movies with great examples of this. I enjoy these types of scenes and I'm always trying to pay attention to catch them. They are sometimes easy to overlook when one is engrossed in a good movie.

Yeah, that was a great episode. I see that TNT renewed it for another 10 episodes next year, that's good.
