Congress Planning Obama Impeachment After Bipartisan Debt Plan Rejected

    Alexander Higgins
    Jersey City Civil Rights Examiner
    July 25, 2011

The U.S congress is planning to file Articles of Impeachment against President Obama after he rejected another bipartisan plan debt plan to prevent the U.S from a credit default.

Earlier today republicans warned President Obama that impeachment proceedings would be brought against him if he causes the nation to default on its debt.

Congressman Steve King, the Republic member of the House of Representative from Iowa, wrote on his twitter account Monday that President Barack Obama “would be impeached” if the nation falls into default.

Politico reported afterward on King's threat and added that other members of congress were also ready to bring impeachment charges against Obama over the debt talks. Rep. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) warned earlier this month it would be “an impeachable offense” and Bruce Fein has already drafted articles of impeachment for House republicans to introduce.

As the August 2nd deadline of a default on U.S. draws near, the major rating agencies have already warned that a credit rating downgrade may now be inevitable due to the political bickering within members of congress and with the President.

After the warnings of impeachment hearings were given to President Obama he rejected yet another bipartisan debt plan earlier today.

The rejection of the plan means that a U.S. default may now be unavoidable as leaders of both political parties have been pushed beyond the limits of concessions they are willing to make as part of a compromise.

The rejection of the plan has infuriated members of congress from both political parties who feel they are in a position where no further compromise can be made. The reported deadlock in the negotations has spurred talks of impeachment among circles in congress.

Whether the congress will actually follow through with the plan to impeach President Obama they are discussing with the media or if this whole charade is part of a political power play for Washington politicians to gain more concessions is yet to be seen.

Earlier today the Republicans were accused of having "moved backwards" in the negotiations in a press conference given earlier by Senator Schumer and Senator Reid. The Senators told members of the press the GOP was looking to increase pentagon spending which they could not agree to.

Later The GOP and the President took shots at each other in prime-time broadcasts to the nation.

First the president blamed conservative House Republicans for not being able to reach a deal that would avoid an imminent default on US national debt.

Minutes later in a rebuttal address, the house speaker accused President Obama of wanting a "blank check" and insisted the US government's "spending binge" was over.

At the same time that GOP impeachment talks are based on launching charges due to a debt default, a Reuters report that just hit the wire reveals that President Obama has several options to avoid default even if a debt deal is not reached in congress. Those options however would not avoid a downgrade of U.S. debt which would mean a default down the road.

Could be just posturing. However, if Obama decides to erroneously invoke the 14th Amendment and seeks to bypass Congress in this debt crisis, this may well happen.

Impeach Obama Robocall Campaign Launched By Conservative Group

WASHINGTON -- The movement to impeach President Barack Obama has been launched, just days after he won a second term in the White House.
The Conservative Majority Fund, a conservative group known primarily for its birther conspiracy spreading, has launched a robocall campaign to gin up support for the president's impeachment.
The call, emailed to The Huffington Post by Shaun Dakin of StopPoliticalCalls.org, reads in part as follows:
Our only recourse now is to move forward with the full impeachment of President Obama. We suspect that Obama is guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors and that there may be grounds for impeachment as is laid out in the constitution. Further, he may not even be a U.S. citizen because nobody, I mean no one, has seen an actual physical copy of his birth certificate. Impeachment is our only option. And Republicans are already considering Obama investigations. As the nation's most effective conservative group we are launching the official impeach Obama campaign.
    LISTEN:
Conservative Majority Fund is on the fringe of the conservative fringe. And their outlandish drives are often done with an eye towards exploiting people's dark political fears as a way to raise money. So it's not terribly surprising that they moved this quickly to start the drumbeats for the president's impeachment.
Among the "misdemeanors" they cite are the president's proposals to close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay -- an idea supported by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) -- and to give "full amnesty" to undocumented immigrants. Indeed, a pathway to citizenship has, in recent days, been endorsed by McCain and other Republicans.

    You Know You’re A Communist When…

December 1, 2012 By Chris Enloe Comments (21)

    inShare16

Here’s a simple question: At what point do you know you’re a communist?
As a strongly principled Conservative/Libertarian, I feel like I could easily recognize other strongly principled Conservatives and Libertarians because their views fall similar to mine.
Using this logic, shouldn’t one communist be able to identify another communist? Better yet, wouldn’t someone who lived through Communism be able to identify a communist leader?
I think the answer is yes, and there is some frightening (only if you haven’t realized it yet) proof.
Recently an opinion article appeared in Pravda (a Russian newspaper), by a relatively unknown writer, Xavier Lerma.
Let me start out by saying that after doing a little research on Xavier, I have found that he is not a Communist, Socialist, or Marxist. He is a Conservative, but of Russian standards of course, with a true love for Vladimir Putin. If you read the column, you would catch on quickly to his favorable bias towards Putin.
While the column contains extreme spin and favorability towards Putin, everything that Xavier said about America and Obama is true – well, mostly true:
Recently, Obama has been re-elected for a 2nd term by an illiterate society, and he is ready to continue his lies of less taxes while he raises them. He gives speeches of peace and love in the world while he promotes wars as he did in Egypt, Libya, and Syria. He plans his next war with Iran as he fires or demotes his generals who get in the way.
What about this isn’t true? Except for the ‘illiterate society’ comment, this paragraph expresses some of my feelings with the reelection of Obama to a tee.
    Why do we study history?
We study history in an attempt to learn from it and (to the best of our ability) not commit the same mistakes twice. However, we almost never learn from history, and we always commit the same mistakes twice.
Xavier gets history, though. He has learned from the past of the nation that he holds near and dear to his heart, and he is strongly against Russia committing those same mistakes twice.
Xavier knows that communism doesn’t work, nor does socialism. Xavier knows that low taxes are the way to go. And finally, Xavier knows that faith, morals, and strong principles are the key to prosperity.
History tells us these things, and this is why Xavier is able to exploit all of Obama’s mistakes. Not only is Obama and his administration not learning from history, but they are going in the direction of a “Soviet Plan”, something of which we know does not work. History tells us this.
The American media should be covering this story – its news. But they aren’t going to; that’s why you probably haven’t even heard about it. Because American media doesn’t report the news anymore.
However, when Glenn Beck says something that is deemed to be “politically incorrect”, he is persecuted by the media.
What’s the difference between Beck’s thoughts on America and Xavier’s?
Nothing, and that’s why the media isn’t covering this story.
I suggestion you click on the link and read the column. It could do without all of the favorability towards Putin, but Xavier’s views about Obama and the current state of America are Right. On. Point.

Who could have seen this coming? Here we go with the next step in the ridiculous, drummed up, non-scandal, Benghazi-gate that the right wingers have all been losing their minds over for the last couple of weeks at Fox -- Huckabee Suggests Obama Should Be Impeached Over Libya Incident:
Fox News host and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) compared the administration’s handling of the consulate attack in Libya to Watergate, during an appearance on the network Friday morning, and hinted that the president should be impeached for not immediately attributing the violence to terrorism.
“We have been flat-out lied to,” Huckabee told Fox’s Bill Hemmer. “They know they lied. As if airplanes crashing into the World Trade Center said those were just accidents. Anybody with two eyes and an IQ above plant life knows what happened in Libya was not a spontaneous reaction to a 13 minute video on YouTube”:
HUCKABEE: It was a planned orchestrated attack led by terrorists, terrorists, Bill. And this White House has to explain why it hasn’t owned up to that. Why it can’t say it. I think frankly, if this issue really gets traction that it deserves, and let it say it deserves, go back. Richard Nixon was forced out of office because he lied. And because he covered some stuff up. I will be blunt and tell you this. Nobody died in Watergate. We have people who are dead because of this. There are questions to be answered and Americans ought to demand to get answers. [...]
HEMMER: Just one more thing here. What you’re describing, comparing events of today to Watergate.
HUCKABEE: I sure am….Bill, i’m not saying this just out of some political interest. I’m saying that our trust as a nation is built on our ability to know that when our president, whoever he is, Democrat or Republican, looks us in the eye and tells us something, we ought to know he is telling us the truth.
Fox News, Republican lawmakers, and conservative pundits have for weeks hinted at an administration cover-up, naming it Benghazi-gate, and alleging that Ambassador Susan Rice misled Americans, when she initially claimed that the attacks were a “spontaneous reaction” to a movie trailer disparaging the Prophet Muhammed.
And while some administration officials expressed concern that “the White House began pushing the line that the attack was spontaneous and not the work of terrorists,” officials began labeling the incident the work of terrorism after investigating the incident. Read on...
Media Matters has more on the attack here -- Myths And Facts About The Benghazi Attack And Protests In The Middle East :
Right-wing media have pushed numerous myths about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and protests in the Middle East, from distorting the Obama administration's response to the attacks to misleading about the nature of security at the Benghazi consulate.
Check out the full report at their site.
And here's more from Steve at No More Mister Nice Blog -- No, Obama is Not Going to Lose the Election Because of Benghazi:
The Obama administration initially described the lethal attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi as the result of a protest against the online Innocence of Muslims video; the administration now says it was a terrorist attack. Obama opponents want to make a big deal of the change in the administration's story (although Obama did use the phrase "act of terror" in an allusion to the attack the day after it occurred); they're not making much of an effort to conceal the fact that they're doing this for political gain in an election year, while accusing Team Obama of a cover-up (although if it was that, it was a short-lived one).
But sorry, Republicans -- this isn't going to get Mitt Romney elected. There are several reasons for that.
First of all, while Republicans think they're taking the high ground by accusing the administration of turning the Innocence of Muslims filmmakers into scapegoats, the Republicans are doing pretty much the same thing themselves: they're blaming the administration for the killings. At first they accused the administration of not placing the blame where it belongs -- on the actual killers. But they're deflecting blame away from the actual killers, too.
Now, there does seem to have been a failure to anticipate the attack and provide adequate security. (There's also plenty of unrest around the globe that actually can be ascribed to anger at that video, although it seems not to have played a part in the Benghazi killings.) But if Republicans are blaming the administration while the administration is blaming the actual killers, it's the administration that has the high ground. Read on...
I'll just leave everyone with a clip of Thomas Roberts on MSNBC this Thursday, shooting down former Bachmann and Santorum spox, Alice Stewart, when she suggested that the attacks there are a big deal and are going to come up in the debates.
As Roberts noted, we just had an administration that lied us into invading Iraq and in light of that, we could give the Obama administration a little leeway with figuring out what the truth is about who's responsible for the attack in Libya. Politicizing the attacks in just looks petty and desperate.
