Not sure if you folks noticed, but BBCA is showing what I believe to be all of the BSG series on Sat. nights.
Started quite a while ago.
This is good for me as I only caught maybe 1/2 of the originals.

I really wish Direct TV would broadcast BBCA and the Military Channel in HD.
"Still waitin on the Judgement Day"
I had Direct for maybe 5 years - prior to 2004. Not even sure if they offered HD back then.
Think it only went out 3 times, and that was during BAD rain.
Got HD Time Warner now - no complaints.
I really like the DVR feature. Can't remember the last time I watched something in real-time - except the Tigers in the playoffs recently.
When you say originals, do you mean the actual original, cheesy Lorne Greene series, or the far superior series from the SciFi channel? The Scifi series was one of the best shows on tv at the time, imho.
Sorry - the one from the SciFi channel.
I also think it's very good.
When it was on the first time, I was working 12+ hour days, and TV was not a priority.
Actually I've never seen the original with Greene.
I've heard a lot of people talk about BSG but never seen any of the episodes. I think I may have to check it out in the near future.
I highly recommend this show. If you like good scifi, and I know a lot of you do, check this show out. It should really be watched from the first episode though, as it progresses along a timeline.
Also, not sure when, but there is a prequel series coming up on the Scifi channel, all about Adama when he was a Viper pilot during the first war against the Cylons.
Thanks for the info catfish - I'll keep an eye open.
Anyone watch Razor?
I heard it was just one of the older 1 shows, with some stuff added.
I think that was one of the movies that was part of the Scifi series. Kind of like what they use to do with the old Stargate series. The BSG movies didn't have to be seen in order to keep up with the series, although they took place in the same timeline and concerned events from the series. I think they only made a few, one of them was about another Battlestar and events that took place with that ship and crew. There were also webisodes, never watched them though and I'm not sure if you still can or not. As far as Razor, if I remember it was one of the weaker movies and I do believe they used footage from previous show/s.
Also, there was a show on Scifi called Caprica, a prequel type show, taking place decades before BSG, basically about the birth or creation of the Cylons. It lasted a season, maybe two, before it was cancelled. It wasn't the greatest, dealt with teenagers, the birth of the one god religion that is more prominent in BSG, and how the Cylons possibly became sentient beings. I felt the show was getting better, but I don't think they gave it a fair chance.
Backstop,
If you have NetFlix they have the entire series. If not you could probably watch the entire 5 years of the series during their free 30 day trial membership.
Thanks Darby - had no idea about Netflix...and we have it!
HAHA!
I'm not the one ordering movies, or even watching them.
And I gotta say, I really enjoy the series now that I'm seeing all the episodes.
I'm about half way through season 2. I've got to say, it is a pretty good show!
Very interesting how they manage to make you feel both completely sympathetic and yet also repulsed by the very same Cylon characters.
Very good point; I've thought about this a bit.
Also what I found interesting is the one episode where Adama asks Sharon if she'd tell him who the Cylons were in the fleet.
And she said no. But yet, she helped them jump away when she plugged herself in to the computers. (She's messed up in the head).
Then, he becomes more friendly toward her.
Kinda dumb if you ask me.
Interesting stuff.
I've just finished watching both BSG and Caprica.
Overall, I thought BSG was great. I think it was overall a good mix of action and drama. Good character and story development that gets you interested.
Caprica, I was less impressed by. I wasn't nearly as drawn in by the characters on there. It's a shame it got canceled after one season if only for the fact it would have been very interesting to see the Cylon uprising and first war.
I watched about 10 mins of Caprica, and it just didn't draw me in.
LOL! You'd have to give it more than 10 minutes.Took me 2-3 episodes at least. Even then though, it was rather limited. I really only found myself watching to see what transpired with the Graystones and the development of the Cylons.
I know the religion angle was supposed to be important to the Cylon backstory but I just found myself bored with it. Maybe that's just me though...
At least when they cancelled Caprica they did a synopsis of events between the end of that era and the BSG series. It would have been cool to see a more in depth examination of those events. From what I read, the new BSG series will help to explain some of what happened.
I thought the series ending was very cool, one of the best endings to a show I've ever seen.
I didn't see that synopsis. I saw a preview for the next season that never came but, no rundown of events between Caprica and BSG.
I'll have to try and find that.
