Totally Badass Trailer for Battlestar Galactica’s Cylon War Prequel, Blood and Chrome
    March 20, 2012

    (Non-embedable Video At Link)

Check out the amazing trailer for the new Battlestar Galactica prequel, Blood and Chrome. Following a young William Adama fighting in the first Cylon War. Last we heard, this pilot was going to be demoted to a webseries, instead of being aired as a TV movie. But this trailer is too amazing to be relegated to the internet — put this pilot on TV now, Syfy!

According to our old reports the plot follows young William Adama as he's ordered to escort a young woman, who turns out to know some vitally important Cylon secrets. So far, this show looks slick as hell. So Say We All!

Morons... The trailer looked pretty awesome and actually would have given me a reason to watch SciFi.

Syfy Passes on Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome
    March 21, 2012

It’s a roller coaster ride of emotions for Battlestar Galactica fans today. Earlier we saw a truly fantastic trailer for the long-in-the-works prequel series Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome cut to Karen O’s cover of “Immigrant Song” that was so expertly used in the Dragon Tattoo trailer. Fans have been waiting in vain for some kind of sign that the series still exists since the two-hour pilot was greenlit in 2010. Soon after the wave of excitement over the trailer peaked, Syfy decided to crush our dreams and announce that they won’t be moving forward with the series after all. Hit the jump for more.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome takes place during the 10th year of the first Cylon war and centers on a young William Adama (played by Luke Pasqualino). The show was initially envisioned as a web series and Syfy greenlighted the two-hour TV pilot in late 2010. The project hasn’t exactly been sitting on the shelf since then, as the network didn’t receive the finished pilot until last November due to a lengthy, visual effects-laden post-production process. Now that the network has gotten a look at the pilot, Deadline reports that they’ve decided to pass on the project as a regular series. There is light at the end of the tunnel, however, as Syfy apparently hopes to move forward with the show as a digital web series (as was the original intention). Syfy president of original programming Mark Stern had this to say:
“Though the vision for “Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome” has evolved over the course of the past year, our enthusiasm for this ambitious project has not waned. We are actively pursuing it as was originally intended: a groundbreaking digital series that will launch to audiences beyond the scope of a television screen. The 90-minute pilot movie will air on Syfy in its entirety at a future date.”
Apparently the trailer that hit earlier today was an unofficial demo reel that wasn’t intended for the public. It was shown at WonderCon last weekend, but NBCUniversal has since removed all vestiges of it from YouTube. While I’m disappointed that Blood & Chrome won’t be moving forward on television, I guess a web series is better than nothing. Still, the budget will presumably be miniscule compared to that of a series meant for cable. The project can still be shopped to other networks, but I seriously doubt any majors will bite. The prequel series Caprica was a ratings disappointment and was swiftly cancelled after just one season.

An update on Blood and Chrome...

'Battlestar Galactica' Prequel Being Released Online Friday

    November 5, 2012

It’s a three-year wait for more Star Wars. Six months for more Star Trek. But guess what? Battlestar Galactica returns in only four days.

Universal Cable Productions’ long-awaited Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome has not only found a distribution outlet, but it’s getting a super-close premiere date. Plus, there’s a rather spectacular new trailer (below).

Here’s the raw essentials: BSG: B&C is a prequel movie being presented as ten, 7-12-minute episodes on young-male-targeted entertainment company Machinima’s YouTube channel, called Machinima Prime. The first episode will be released on Friday, Nov. 9, with the remaining episodes rolled out over the next four weeks. In early 2013, the two-hour version of B&C will air on Syfy, followed by the release of an unrated version on home video.

Such a three-tiered windowing release strategy (online, network and DVD, all within a few months) is considered unique for a TV series.

For those who haven’t followed the B&C saga, the project was originally developed as a series for Syfy following the conclusion of the critically beloved Battlestar Galactica reboot and its movie spin-offs The Plan and Razor. BSG vets David Eick and Michael Taylor are executive producers, with Taylor writing the script from a story by Eick, Bradley Thompson and David Weddle. Jonas Pate (Caprica) directed.

The prequel follows young William Adama (Luke Pasqualino, UK’s Skins) during the first Cylon War. Assigned to the Galactica, the eager Adama finds himself at odds with his co-pilot, the battle-weary officer Coker (Ben Cotton, Alcatraz). Like Starz’ Spartacus, the series uses “virtual set” CGI technology that adds more expansive and spectacular backdrops than possible in a convention production.

“With its top-notch storytelling, pulse-pounding action, and cutting-edge visual effects, Blood & Chrome is the perfect extension of the Battlestar Galactica universe,” said Mark Stern, Syfy programming president and co-head of original content at UCP. “We are thrilled to see this hotly-anticipated event premiere on Machinima, an online network that is unparalleled in its delivery of high-class digital content to millions of viewers.”

    Here’s the new trailer:

Just finished watchingall of Blood and Chrome.

I liked it! It was pretty entertaining. I think it would have been better if they had gone with this instead of Caprica, not that it was bad. Maybe if they had done Caprica after Blood and Chrome, working their way backwards through BSG history.

This Cylon engagement ring is frakking amazing

    Lauren Davis

When Michael Moragne decided to propose to his girlfriend Amy, he wanted to give her a ring that reflected not just their love, but also their shared love of Battlestar Galactica. Using the central diamond and gold from his grandmother's engagement ring, Moragne had a new ring made — one with Cylons hiding on the band.

Moragne worked with a jewelry designer to create the ring, tweaking the design during the process to get the perfect pair of Toasters. There is even a small ruby on each side to represent the sweeping red eye. The result is fantastic, and far less painful than a pair of matching wing and circle tattoos.

Moragne's original sketch of the ring:

New 'Battlestar Galactica' Movie Will Completely Reimagine The Sci-Fi Tale

    April 7, 2014

Universal is preparing to start work on a Battlestar Galactica movie. Variety says the studio is planning to completely reimagine the sci-fi story — in which space-bound humans fend off the attacks of nefarious cybernetic Cylons as they try to find a new home — just five years after the four-season Syfy TV show drew to a close. The planned film would mark the second time Battlestar Galactica has been rebooted after the original show aired in 1978.

Jack Paglen, the writer of the upcoming Transcendence, has agreed to pen the reboot's screenplay. Paglen is a hot property for studios wanting to create sci-fi at the moment: he's also slated to write Ridley Scott's Prometheus sequel. Glen Larson, who worked on the 1970s TV series, will produce the film, but there's no confirmation yet on who'll take on the role of director. Bryan Singer was originally attached to a Battlestar Galactica movie project in 2011, but the production was put on hold in 2013 after the director committed to working on new X-Men movies. Having agreed to direct 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, Singer is unlikely to have time to work on developing a new Battlestar.

I've been rewatching Dark Angel recently because it's been a long time since I've seen it (and who doesn't want to watch Jessica Alba! ) and I noticed there are a ton of actors from Battlestar Galactica in it!

I'm on S02E18 and so far I've spotted Cally, The Chief, Leoben, Tory, Gaeta, and Dualla!

ETA: Just spotted the Cylon Simon in the series finale.

Was just watching the Season 2 premiere of Lucifer. Near the end they have Lucifer Morningstar playing on piano and singing All Along The Watchtower in his penthouse when who else pops out of the elevator but Caprica Six.

Turns out she's playing Lucifer's mother who has escaped from Hell.

That just had to be a BSG Easter Egg.

Hmm... Maybe the new show won't actually suck. Sounds like Sam Esmail, the guy behind Mr. Robot which was pretty good until the last season went woke, knows what he's taking on and respects it.

Then again, I heard the same words about Picard and look how badly that sucks.
