Default Movies You're Looking Forward To In 2012

Here's a few I'm looking forward to seeing in the upcoming year:

    YouTube: Act Of Valor (2012)

    YouTube: Red Tails (2012)

    YouTube: Remnants (2012)

That one is a lesser known independent film.

    YouTube: Underworld: Awakening (2012)

YouTube: The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

    YouTube: The Avengers (2012)

Anything else out there anyone else is looking forward to?

John Carter of Mars, can't wait, hope they do it justice. Also The Hobbit, MIBIII and Prometheus.

    LOL!

Forgot about The Hobbit. Also, hadn't heard of the other two and looked them up. Look interesting!

By the way, I purposefully left Red Dawn off the list. Since the movie caved to China, it has moved considerably down my list from "go see it on opening night" to "I'll wait until it is out on video".

Insofar as sci-fi goes, John Carter was one of my gateway drugs, along with Starship Troopers, Starmans Son, City and the Stars, and the Skylark and Lensman series. I don't really expect due homage, Peter Jackson set the bar impossibly high with LOTR and I doubt I'll ever see another film adaptation so lovingly treated. at least where fantasy/sci fi is concerned. I've liked Willem Dafoe since Live and Die in LA, so I'm cautiously optomistic regarding our favorite Thark. Bryan Cranston, no matter the part, gives me hope as well.
While researching 2012 movies I came across a site keeping score for the number of appearances by various actors. Bryan Cranston leads the pack at 6, followed by Channing Tatum with 5. Seventeen actors/actresses are tied at 3 appearances, including J Lo and Will Farrell. Adam Sandler missed the list. Perhaps all is not lost in Hollywood after all.

I hadn't heard about another Riddick movie but I looked at Vin Diesel's IMDB page and sure enough, it shows one in the works. However, it shows it as untitled and an unknown release date.

Total Recall - I am wary about this since I've heard it won't even take place on Mars and won't bear hardly any resemblance to the original. But, it appears Kate Beckinsale is in it...

Hadn't heard about the Judge Dredd remake either. Just checked that out on IMDB and with a $45 mil budget, it could be good. The original movie with Stallone was a fun, cheesy action movie (nothing wrong with that!) but a darker, more serious Judge Dredd movie could be pretty cool.

I really liked the Riddick character and enjoyed both movies so far. While I'm looking forward to the new one, I'm also a little dismayed because it doesn't sound like the new movie will be a continuation of the last one. Remember the "Keep what you kill"? I was hoping he would take his new army and march on Underverse, but it sounds like its going to forget that story and do something different. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I liked the first Judge Dredd movie, but like Ryan said it was cheesy, also campy, but fun. I'm looking forward to the new one, which sounds like its going to be a darker and more serious version.

I think the new Total Recall is going to be more faithful to the Phillip Dick story and not the original movie. I liked the first movie, hopefully I will like the new one too.

One thing is for sure, I'm very encouraged by all the upcoming movies that are scifi, could be a banner year. The movie I'm most excited about right now is World War Z. The book was very original and I thought it kicked ass, here's hoping the movie stays close to the book.

I'm gonna try and post some trailers yet tonite.

Kate Beckinsale looks better in leather, hence my interest in the latest installment of Underworld .

Just read an interview with Ridley Scott about Prometheus, where he spills a bit more info. Seems the xenomorph is to stay retired, as Scott says he's wrung it dry. Instead the new film will deal with the "Space Jockey", which I take is a slang term for the dead pilot of the spaceship found in the first Alien film. My interest level continues to grow.

The official full trailer for The Dark Knight Rises has been released.

And, since we were discussing Kate Beckinsale earlier, I feel this is relevant to this thread.

You are correct, the Space Jockey was the giant dead alien in the ship in the first Alien movie.

For some reason I'm having trouble posting videos. I will try to figure it out and post some trailers.

We also went to see "John Carter". The movie was pretty good.

It was the "Second Book" though, "Princess of Mars" and they managed to include enough of the first book to explain why he was there, how he got there, what the backstory was etc. So about the first 30 minutes was the entire first book. The rest of the movie was the second book.

Generally, box office revenue doesn't affect my interest level that much, either. In this case, unfortunately, it seems accurate. After seeing the movie a couple weeks ago, the thing that sticks in my mind is the previews, specifically Prometheus and The Avengers. The movie itself, I'm afraid, should have left in a pile on the cutting room floor. Can't imagine it breaking even. Dejah Thoris, no matter how hot, cannot save this trainwreck.

Went to see "Hunger Games". Never read the book. Movie was typical apocalyptic past-tense world, where the Haves are oppressing the Have-nots. The people in the "Districts" were farmers, coal miners, and various other jobs.

The districts had to send 2 people each year (24) to fight to the death because of their previous insurrection against the Haves... etc.

Was a decent story. Was written for "Young Adults".... Female Heroine....blah blah.

    It was ok, not impressed.

I liked them both. They were what I go to the movies for... Entertainment. I don't go there to learn things (contrary to what Algore thinks). I don't go see movies like his shit.

    I go see, in order:

SciFi (Star Trek, and any furturistic, space opera stuff)
    Adventure (Indiana Jones type stuff)
Cowboys and Indians (or Aliens haha)
