A Catholic university in St. Louis has taken down a statue of a Catholic missionary over complaints that its depiction of Catholic conversion efforts represents a legacy of white supremacy, The College Fix reported.
The statue at Jesuit-run Saint Louis University (SLU) is of Jesuit missionary Pierre-Jean De Smet, who evangelized American Indians during the 1800s and has several cities and schools in the U.S. named after him. It shows him holding a crucifix aloft as he ministers to two American Indians, who both look up to him in awe.
The statue stood in front of SLU’s Fusz Hall at the center of campus for over 50 years, but finally succumbed to a barrage of complaints from those who say the statue is emblematic of imperialism, racism, classism, and a parade of other dreadful -isms.
For example, in an editorial published last month in the school’s University News, student Ryan McKinley said that, regardless of De Smet’s own personal beliefs, or those of the Indians he preached to, the statue represents nothing more than “Christian and white supremacy.”
“This message to American Indians is simple: ‘You do not belong here if you do not submit to our culture and our religion,'” McKinley wrote.
Instead of remaining publicly displayed in a place of honor, the statue has been moved to the school’s SLU Museum of Art, where the school says it will be displayed in its “historical context.”
The complaints that De Smet’s conversion efforts are an unsuitable topic for a statue are ironic on several levels. First, his conversion efforts and those of other Jesuits were quite successful; DeSmet successfully converted the Flathead Indians and thousands of others, and Christianity is still the largest religion among American Indians. In some ways, attacking the statue is similar to attacking one of the Irish being ministered to by Saint Patrick, as Patrick was also a foreign missionary.
Not only that, but De Smet was a trusted friend of the Indians who helped them negotiate with the U.S. government and who, in his writings, preserved a great deal of information about their culture and traditional way of life.
De Smet’s good relations with Indians reflected a long history of positive Jesuit engagement with America’s natives. In Latin America, Jesuit-run missions protected Indians from enslavement European colonizers, and their influence was so bothersome to colonial authorities that both Spain and Portugal made efforts to suppress them.
While the De Smet statue is coming down, SLU is forging ahead with plans to erect a statue commemorating a six-day anti-police protest held last October in the wake of the Michael Brown shooting in nearby Ferguson.
Have the taxpayers of St. Paul spent nearly $3 million over the past five years to bring chaos and danger to their schools and students?
Apparently so.
In 2010, the St. Paul school district began a contractual relationship with the Pacific Educational Group, a San Francisco-based organization that tries to help public schools deal with achievement and disciplinary issues involving black students.
PEG packages and sells the concept of victimization, for a very high price.
It claims that the American education system is built around white culture, tradition and social norms – aka “white privilege” – to the unfair detriment of black students.
PEG believes that black students will only achieve if school curricula are customized to meet their cultural specifications. It also rejects the concept of using suspensions or expulsions to discipline black students.
The relationship with PEG has been costly for the St. Paul district, in more ways than one.
According to information provided by the district to EAGnews through a freedom of information request, St. Paul schools spent at least the following amounts on PEG consultations services over the past five years:
* $137,720 in 2010-11,
* $366,800 in 2011-12,
* $598,900 in 2012-13,
* $489,150 in 2013-14 and
* $285,895 in 2014-15.
The district also reported spending “matched amounts” of $132,072 (2010-11), $363,260 (2011-12) and $537,900 (2012-13) on PEG, without explaining what that term means.
Not long after PEG started working with St. Paul school officials, crucial policy changes were made, according to various news reports.
Special needs students with behavioral issues were mainstreamed into regular classrooms, a position openly advocated by PEG.
Student suspensions were replaced by “time outs,” and school officials starting forgiving or ignoring violence and other unacceptable behavior, according to various sources.
“The disciplinary changes came out of meetings with an organization called Pacific Educational Group, a San Francisco-based operation that has been consulting with the district dating back to 2010,” the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
The result has been general chaos throughout the district, with far too many students out of control because they know there are no real consequences for their actions.
A local publication called CityPages recently told the story of Becky McQueen, an educator at St. Paul’s Harding High School.
“Last spring, when she stepped into a fight between two basketball players, one grabbed her shoulder and head, throwing her aside,” the CityPages article explained. “The kid was only sent home for a couple of days.
“In March, when a student barged into her class, McQueen happened to be standing in the doorway and got crushed into a shelf. The following week, two boys came storming in, hit a girl in the head, then skipped back out. One of them had already been written up more than 30 times.
“Yet another student who repeatedly drops into her class has hit kids and cursed at an aide, once telling McQueen he would “fry” her ass. She tried to make a joke of it — ‘Ooh, I could use a little weight loss.’ Her students interjected: ‘No, that means he’s gonna kill you.'”
McQueen now has her students use a secret knock on the classroom door, so she will know who to allow in, the article said.
“There are those that believe that by suspending kids we are building a pipeline to prison. I think that by not, we are,” McQueen told CityPages. “I think we’re telling these kids you don’t have to be on time for anything, we’re just going to talk to you. You can assault somebody and we’re gonna let you come back here.”
There are similar horror stories from many other school buildings in the district, according to CityPages:
At John A. Johnson Elementary on the East Side, several teachers, who asked to remain anonymous, describe anything but a learning environment. Students run up and down the hallways, slamming lockers and tearing posters off the walls. They hit and swear at each other, upend garbage cans under teachers’ noses.
Nine teachers at Ramsey Middle School have quit since the beginning of this school year. Some left for other districts. Others couldn’t withstand the escalating anarchy.
In mid-April, staff at Battle Creek Elementary penned a letter to their principal over “concerns about building wide safety, both physical and emotional, as well as the deteriorating learning environment.”
A week later, the principal announced that he would be transferred next year.
One despondent teacher told CityPages, “We have students who will spend an hour in the hallway just running and hiding from people, like it’s a game for them. A lot of them know no one is going to stop them, so they just continue.”
The families of the district have clearly had enough.
Over the past four years, as PEG has cast its influence in St. Paul, the number of students living in the district but attending non-district schools, has increased from about 9,000 to 12,000, according to Joe Nathan, executive director of the Minneapolis-based Center for School Change.
Two-thirds of those students come from low income families, or families of color, so it’s not just a typical case of “white flight,” Nathan said.
“The most basic thing our schools must offer is the safety of the children,” Nathan told the Star Tribune. “A significant number of families are saying their children do not feel safe in the schools. They don’t feel safe even going to the bathroom.”
The situation came to a head in April when members of the St. Paul Federation of Teachers, who organized under the name “Caucus for Change,” convinced the powerful Democratic Farm Labor Party to withhold its endorsement from three incumbent school board members who had planned to seek another term in the November election.
The three, who have supported the superintendent’s relaxed disciplinary policies, will reportedly not run without the party endorsement. The party has endorsed four new candidates to fill the upcoming vacancies on the board.
That means the St. Paul school district will likely have four new members on its seven member school board, and perhaps the new majority will do something to restore discipline, order and sanity to the schools.
But what about the district’s relationship with PEG? Will officials continue to waste taxpayer dollars on an organization that pushes policies that destroy any hope for creating or maintaining a productive learning environment?
As one recently published story on better-ed.org put it, “Given the recent (and probably ongoing) turmoil in St. Paul Public Schools, it’s time to ask questions about Pacific Educational Group.”
President Obama aims to prove that Americans are a bunch of racists before he leaves office, a report by the New York Post indicates.
The president currently has staff members working on collecting data on health, credit cards, mortgages, school discipline, employment and neighborhoods to prove there are inequalities between white people and minorities, author Paul Sperry said in an article published on Saturday.
The biggest among these is the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing database unveiled earlier this month by the Department of Housing and Urban Development which is intended to be used to balance the racial makeup of EVERY neighborhood in the United States by classifying any community with a 50 percent or higher makeup of white residents as segregated, the Post reported:
Meanwhile, the Federal Housing Finance Agency, run by former Congressional Black Caucus leader Mel Watt, will collect every bit of personal data it can from every credit line to show “possible discriminatory lending patterns.”
Coupled with databases for credit, schooling and employment, the president wants all of it completed by the time his term is over, according to the Post:
This Orwellian-style stockpile of statistics includes a vast and permanent network of discrimination databases, which Obama already is using to make “disparate impact” cases against:
banks that don’t make enough prime loans to minorities; schools that suspend too many blacks; cities that don’t offer enough Section 8 and other low-income housing for minorities; and employers who turn down African-Americans for jobs due to criminal backgrounds.
Big Brother Barack wants the databases operational before he leaves office, and much of the data in them will be posted online.
So civil-rights attorneys and urban activist groups will be able to exploit them to show patterns of “racial disparities” and “segregation,” even if no other evidence of discrimination exists.
Sperry summarized his article with a sobering thought about race relations:
Count on a flood of private lawsuits to piggyback federal discrimination claims, as civil-rights lawyers use the new federal discipline data in their legal strategies against the supposedly racist US school system.
Even if no one has complained about discrimination, even if there is no other evidence of racism, the numbers themselves will “prove” that things are unfair.
Such databases have never before existed. Obama is presiding over the largest consolidation of personal data in US history. He is creating a diversity police state where government race cops and civil-rights lawyers will micromanage demographic outcomes in virtually every aspect of society.
The first black president, quite brilliantly, has built a quasi-reparations infrastructure perpetually fed by racial data that will outlast his administration.]

Professor fired for being white: ‘Black Power’ administrator costs university $4.8 million
A historically black college in St. Louis, Mo., has been forced to cough up $4.85 million to a fire professor when*a court found the woman was fired for being white.
Beverly Wilkins was a professor at Harris-Stowe State University’s College of Education from 2001 until 2010, when she was fired. In 2012, though, she struck back with a lawsuit, saying her departure wasn’t for budgetary or performance reasons but instead was due to an administrator’s*vendetta against the white race.
According to Wilkins’ lawsuit, she started to be pushed out at Harris-Stowe after the college hired*Latisha*Smith*as a faculty member*in 2007. Smith was *quickly promoted to assistant dean and then dean of the College of Education, and Wilkins said she subscribed to a “black power” ideology that drove her to purge the college of all whites. In 2010 Wilkins was fired, with Smith blaming the move on state budget cuts. Wilkins says every white professor at the school was ultimately let go, except for one protected by tenure. Meanwhile, only one black professor was let go, and it was due to a sex crime conviction.
While*Harris-Stowe’s*budget was used to justify Wilkins termination, shortly after she was let go the school hired two new (black) professors to teach her classes, at a combined salary higher than what Wilkins earned.
Smith attempted to conceal her behavior by deleting emails, but some slipped through the cracks and provided critical evidence for the lawsuit. In one email, a black instructor complained to Smith about her egregious prejudice.
“I am floored to know that we have an interim leader that has voiced her prejudice so openly to me and others,” the email,*published by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, says.
Smith*no longer serves as dean, but her acts have still put the school on the hook for millions.
The ruling, delivered by a jury, awards Wilkins $1.35 million in compensation for lost wages and emotional distress, as well as $3.5 million in punitive damages. The ruling could potentially be modified by a judge.
Neither Wilkins nor Harris-Stowe are commenting on the ruling, though Harris-Stowe board member Ronald Norwood described the outcome as “regrettable” in a statement to the Post-Dispatch, suggesting the school might appeal.

Rick Santorum was on MSNBC’s Morning Joe and was questioned about his comments that “not all Muslims are Jihadists, but all Jihadists are Muslim.”
Santorum declared that most Muslims are not doing enough to stop the spread of radical Islam and cited CAIR as an example.
As Santorum was speaking about CAIR and their inept ability to stop radical Islam, Mika Brzezinski interrupted and asked, “Well why aren’t you working on white men with guns?”
“You’re telling Muslim-Americans they all need to come out and talk about the tiny percentage of their community that has kind of, quite frankly, reeked havoc, but yet, you look at the data of white men with guns reeking havoc on this country. Why aren’t white men coming forward? Why don’t you call on them to do that?” as she said with disgust.
Brzezinski interrupted Santorum again when he said that guns were not the problem. “No, let’s talk about the white men,” she said.

Sam’s Club black, female CEO Rosalind Brewer told CNN’s Poppy Harlow that she recently met with a supplier whose executive team was comprised of all white males.
“Just today we met with a supplier and the entire other side of the table was all Caucasian males,” she told Harlow who asked her what she said to them.
“I decided not to talk about it directly with his folks in the room because there were actually no female, like, levels down,” she said. “I’m gonna place a call to him.”
Wow.
She also said she uses her position to “nudge,” Sam’s Clubs partners and suppliers to hire more minorities and women for the top spots.
Remember when Sam’s Club far-left, black, female CEO Rosalind Brewer openly admitted on CNN that she planned to fire a supplier she met with because she was disgusted that his management staff had too many White males.
Well, now a boycott is being organized against Sam’s Club after the racist, sexist comments by Brewer.
Rosalind Brewer presides over one of the largest wholesale clubs in America, and apparently, she’s a raging liberal, according to Yahoo! Finance. She recently did an interview with CNN and revealed that to her, the color of one’s skin is more important than their contribution to the company, and her number one priority is ensuring her corporate team is diverse, rather than the most efficient it can be.
“It has to start with top leadership,” Brewer said. “My executive team is very diverse and I make that a priority. I demand it within my team.”
On top of ensuring that minorities get priority in the hiring process at Sam’s, she also said that she favors female employees and encourages Sam’s Club partners to do the same. The controversial remark she made is below, and you’ll see why people are so upset after you read it.

'White guilt' video shown to high school students irks community

Some community members are upset about a video shown to students at Glen Allen High School.
An animated film designed as a lesson in “racial discourse” for students at a Virginia high school has led to backlash from community members who’ve taken issue with not-so subtle references to so-called white privilege throughout the video.
“They are sitting there watching a video that is dividing them up from a racial standpoint. It's a White guilt kind of video,” Don Blake, whose granddaughter attended the assembly where the video was shown, told told WWBT. “I think somebody should be held accountable for this.”
Officials at Glen Allen High School in Henrico said in a statement that the video, “The Unequal Opportunity Race,” was a presentation involving “American history and racial discourse.”
They added, “A segment of the video was one component of a thoughtful discussion in which all viewpoints were encouraged. As always, we are welcoming of feedback from students and their families, and we address concerns directly as they come forward.”
As the video begins, four athletes take their marks at the start of a race. While two white athletes immediately take off at the sound of the starting gun, two non-white athletes must remain in the starting block while a red light blocks their path. The non-white athletes are bombarded with words such as “slavery,” “broken treaties,” “genocide” and “segregation.” The white athletes continually run around the track, getting older as their batons – marked with a money symbol – grow larger and larger. Eventually they hand the baton off to a younger white athlete running beside them.
More than a minute into the animated video, the non-white athletes finally get to start the race. But as soon as they begin running, the pair is beset by rocks, potholes, sharks and rain clouds symbolizing “standardized tests,” “discrimination” and the “school to prison pipeline.” The white male athlete, holding a water bottle marked “Yale,” eventually wins the race without even having to run – he takes his place on a fast-moving conveyor belt as the word “privilege” follows him. He crosses the finish line just ahead of the white female.
As the four-minute film ends a message flashes across the screen: “Affirmative action helps level the playing field.”
Radio personality Craig Johnson said the discussion should not be focused on skin color.
“The reality of it, it’s over. The aftermath of it is poverty pimps that will not let it die,” Johnson told WWBT. “Dr. [Martin Luther] King gave his life so that America would be a pace where we are judged by the content of our character, not the color of our skin.”

As if white men are on a conveyor to riches. Holy shit that pisses me off. I have spent my entire adult life at work. Where's my fucking conveyor?
No one has given me shit. I paid for everything myself. I also paid about half of my college myself, mom and dad paid the other half. I couldn't get a student loan back then because my dad made too much money, but not so much he could afford college for me. The cutoff was ridiculously low; Something like 25k/year. If your parents made more than that, no loans for you, so I worked. It took me 5 years because I worked at least 20 hours a week and usually 40-60, while taking classes.

In just the latest instance of a taxpayer-funded university singling out white students for privilege-shaming “education sessions,” the University of Wisconsin-Madison hosted a special workshop on Tuesday for the purpose of getting white students to acknowledge and confront their own white privilege.
According to the university website, “The Privilege of Whiteness” workshop was designed for white people to “reflect on and name the ways their privilege impacts their beliefs and behaviors by gaining the skills to identify the historical roots of White privilege and how it manifests today.” Prospective attendees were informed that the workshop was “designed for a White audience,” although “People of color” were still welcome.
The workshop is one of a handful of “education sessions” offered through the university’s Morgridge Center for Public Service. Students wishing to participate in the university’s Badger Volunteers program are required to attend at least one of the education sessions.
The University of Wisconsin is just the latest university to single out white students for privilege-shaming workshops.
In January, Oregon State University — another taxpayer-funded institution — hosted racially-segregated “social justice retreats,” with separate but equal workshops for white, non-white and mixed-race students. While the white students’ retreats focused on their “white privilege,” the retreats for the non-white students sought to “empower students of color.”
Last November, the University of Vermont held a three-day retreat so students who “self-identify as white” could confront their own “white privilege.” The university covered all expenses — including food, travel, and housing — for students attending the retreat. Like Wisconsin and OSU, the University of Vermont is taxpayer-funded.
Earlier this semester, Northwestern University (a private institution) held a six-week “social justice education” retreat for students who “self-identify as white.” As The Daily Caller reported back in February:
A flier advertising the program states that “Deconstructing Whiteness” is intended to answer questions white students might have about race such as “Why do I have to feel guilty about being white?”
or “How can I talk about race as a white person?” or “What does it mean to be white?”
The University of Wisconsin-Madison did not return TheDC’s request for comment by press time.

A new “reparations” website asks white people to pay black people’s rent and give them money to relieve their white guilt.
The website, started by Seattle-based “conceptual artist” Natasha Marin, suggests a number of ways in which white people can atone for the fact that 1.4 per cent of white people owned black slaves in the United States over 150 years ago.
White Person 3: “I’ll get them for you. PM me and I’ll send an Amazon Fresh or Safeway delivery. You just pick out what you want. I have a $200 limit.”

“I want my project fully funded or at least my phone paid for from here till December so I can stay in Boriken writing about Amerikkkan colonialism,” another man demands on the ‘Reparations’ Facebook page.
Someone else asks for recording studio time so they can record, “an album entitled “White Boys” to vent out my frustration on, well, white boys.”
Before you say it, no this is not a joke, despite the fact that it’s absolutely hilarious. Every offer or request on the website links to the individual’s personal Facebook profile.
Marin says the website is a way for white people to “extricate themselves from the guilt they are mired in” but that it is in “no way a pardon for years of systemic abuse” (presumably Marin is not talking about the kind of “systematic abuse” that leads to figures like white people being 27 times more likely to be violently attacked by black people than vice-versa).
Marin asserts that the fight for a widescale, government-sanctioned reparations program is “totally legitimate” and should continue outside the confines of her website.
There is no indication yet on whether the website will spawn a copycat catering for white people upset at the Barbary slave trade, a far longer and more brutal period of slavery under which both blacks and whites were brutally oppressed by Arabs.
The concept will no doubt be lauded by ‘Black Lives Matter’ organizer Ashleigh Shackelford (pictured above), who has written a series of articles demanding that white people give her money for being a “fat black bitch”
After explaining how she was triggered by white people attending BLM rallies, Shackelford said that that they would be better served writing checks and giving up their car keys.
Reparations.me as well as Marin’s Facebook page gives white guilt-ridden leftists the chance to do precisely that.

When asked recently by her “journalist” friend, Judy Woodruff on PBS, why it was that Hillary Clinton was performing so terribly among the nation’s white, male population… Nancy Pelosi seemed to have it all figured out. Her answer? All white men are God-fearing, gun-toting, sexist, homophobes and so they won’t vote for a liberal woman like Hillary Clinton.

Here’s the thing. Obama was wrong then, and Pelosi is wrong now. Non-Latino, white men make about 31% of the American population, that is nearly 1/3 of the voting population, and they are the one segment of society that is constantly being blamed for some ill by the Democrat Party. They are the one segment of society that is left off of the list of preferred populations on everything from college acceptance to cultural sensitivity. The American white male has become the Democrat Party’s punching bag, so it’s no surprise that the majority of them have been repulsed by Hillary Clinton’s candidacy and the Democrat Party’s platform.
Maybe if the Democrat’s policies were less racist and focused more on the good of all Americans — instead of particular subsets — everyone in America would be happier and our nation and our politics wouldn’t be so polarized.

More than 60 organizations associated with the Black Lives Matter movement have released a series of demands on Monday, including for reparations.
The list of six platform demands is aimed at furthering their goals as the presidential campaign heads into the homestretch.
The release of the six demands comes a few days before the second anniversary of the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., which set off months of protests and led to a national conversation about police killings of blacks.
As part of the effort, the groups are demanding, among other things, reparations for what they say are past and continuing harms to African-Americans, an end to the death penalty, legislation to acknowledge the effects of slavery, as well as investments in education initiatives, mental health services and jobs programs. The list comes right after the Republicans and Democrats held their respective national conventions, and as the general election fight is heating up, with the two nominees, Donald J. Trump and Hillary Clinton, now crisscrossing the nation campaigning. But the coalition will not be endorsing any presidential candidate.
Marbre Stahly-Butts, who is part of the leadership team of the Movement for Black Lives Policy Table, which worked on the demands, said: “On both sides of aisle, the candidates have really failed to address the demands and the concerns of our people. So this was less about this specific political moment and this election, and more about how do we actually start to plant and cultivate the seeds of transformation of this country that go beyond individual candidates.”
The groups worked on creating the demands for a year before making their demands known on Monday. They now plan to start local campaigns aimed at pushing for changes in law enforcement and community programs in cities across the country.
“We seek radical transformation, not reactionary reform,” Michaela Brown, communications director of Baltimore Bloc, another participating group, said in a statement. “As the 2016 election continues, this platform provides us with a way to intervene with an agenda that resists state and corporate power, an opportunity to implement policies that truly value the safety and humanity of black lives, and an overall means to hold elected leaders accountable.”
