Pat Mahaney, Victim of North College Hill 'Boredom Beating', Has Died

A man assaulted and robbed by six teens during a "boredom beating" in North College Hill has died.

Pat Mahaney, 46, passed away Friday at University of Cincinnati Medical Center a little less than a year after the vicious beating that caused him to suffer internal bleeding and put him in the hospital for four days.

Investigators determined the teens instigated the August 2012 attack because they were "bored" and looking for something to do.

North College Hill Police Chief Gary Foust said the juveniles jumped Mahaney from behind, hit him in the head and knocked him to the ground with a six-pack of beer he had just purchased.

"As they were approaching the individual they actually discussed this event, before actually doing the event," Foust said.

Marty Korte said he still doesn't understand why anyone would want to hurt his neighbor.

"He was a good boy. He was taking care of his mother," said Korte, who has lived on the Dallas Avenue block where Mahaney was attacked for 50 years.

He said the attack affected Mahaney socially as well as physically. Korte said he had only seen Mahaney one time since the incident because Mahaney "was afraid to walk down the street."

Hamilton County prosecutor's office spokeswoman Julie Wilson said prosecutor Joe Deters has asked the county coroner to perform an autopsy to see if the injuries sustained during the attack played a role in Mahaney's death.

The teens, who were 13 to 14 years old at the time of the attack, were charged with felonious assault and aggravated riot. Their cases are being tried separately in juvenile court.

Three of the six suspects pleaded guilty in March to felonious assault in a plea agreement in which prosecutors agreed to drop aggravated riot charges.

They were originally indicted under a serious youth offenders statute that allows them to be sentenced either as juveniles or as adults.

Wilson said the office will not decide if additional charges will be filed until the coroner issues a report.

Suspect Sought in Brutal Assault (Warning: Graphic Video)

San Francisco Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of a brutal robbery/aggravated assault.

On June 30, 2013 at around 1:50 a.m., A female victim was robbed by a group of suspects. One suspect kicked her so violently in the face that she was knocked unconscious, police said.

The suspects are described as a group of approximately 5 black males and an adult black female. The group appeared to have been in their late teens or early twenties.

It is believed the suspects committed multiple robberies and assaults after the Pink Saturday event on Pride weekend was over. It is also believed there may be other unreported robberies and assaults that were committed by the same suspects in the area of Market Street between Castro Street and Civic Center on the same date and around the same time.

The Police Department requests assistance identifying unreported robberies and assaults as well as additional assistance with the identification of suspects already in custody.

Joshua Chellew Beaten, Killed By Four Blacks In Georgia – Media Silent

oshua Chellew was a 36 year old Georgia man who gave a ride to a 19 year old female friend to a Chevron station in Mableton Parkway. That would prove fatal as four blacks jumped Joshua Chellew, beat him unconscious, tossed him in to traffic, and got run over and died. This is yeat another fine example of national media bias. If the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin case is so big because of the ‘race’ factor, then why in the hell isn’t the Joshua Chellew murder in Georgia newsworthy in the national media? Four black ‘teens’ have been arrested, but if you read the NBC Atlanta news report, you wouldn’t know the four thugs were black:

19 year old Jekari Oshay Strozier, 18 year old Antonio Shantwan Pass, 18 year old Johnathan Donald Anthony, and 18 year old Kemonta Bonds, all from Mableton, are in the Cobb County jail without bonds on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act.

Instead, the biased NBC network just describes them as ‘teens.’ The video in which the reporter describes the thugs shows them to be black, but no mention from the reporter about the racial component.

4 Teens Charged In Death Of Mableton, Georgia Man

Cobb County police have arrested four alleged gang members linked to a fatal hit-and-run crash on Mableton Parkway.

The suspects are accused of beating the victim and then forcing him into the path of a car.

The fatal crash happened just after 1 a.m. Sunday, near Factory Shoals Road and Mableton Parkway. Joshua Heath Chellew, 36, of Mableton was struck by a vehicle and later died.

Authorities said Chellew did not know his attackers. A friend of Chellew said that the two had gone to a gas station when several men jumped Chellew.

"They started punching him. They starting beating on him," said the woman, who asked not to be identified.

Arrest warrants said that the Chellew attempted to escape his attackers by backing into Mableton Parkway. Chellew was then knocked down onto the roadway, where he was struck by the vehicle.

The following four suspects are charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act. They are currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

- Antonio Pass (18-year-old male from Mableton, Georgia)
- Johnathan Anthony (18-year-old male from the Mableton, Georgia)

Anthony made his first court appearance Tuesday night. The other three suspects are expected to face a judge on Wednesday.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Chellew turned himself into authorities. Police said that he does not face any criminal charges. Authorities said he did pull over and call 911 after he realized that he'd struck someone.

Two visitors to Chicago received a rude welcome to the city Friday when one was robbed by a group of city teens and the other was punched while trying to help, officials said.
The two visitors – a 15-year-old Florida girl and a 51-year-old Michigan woman – were both walking on the Mag Mile Friday evening when the older woman was robbed of her iPhone by a group of eight juveniles, officials said.
The woman who was robbed, who wanted to be identified only by her first name Tammy and did not want her hometown published, said she was visiting Chicago to see relatives and to run the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon Sunday. She checked into a hotel and she, her sister, and their 70-year-old mother went out shopping.
“We had only been in town four hours and I got robbed,” Tammy said with the hint of a laugh during a telephone interview Saturday evening. “Welcome to Chicago.”
According to a police report, about 7 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of North Michigan Avenue, the teens grabbed and held Tammy while one of the teens took her iPhone from her pocket.
After feeling her iPhone being pulled from the pack pocket of her jean shorts, Tammy grabbed the boy who took it by the backpack and held on until police got there two or three minutes later.
“He just kept saying, ‘We didn’t take your phone, you white b——, leave us alone,’ ” said Tammy.
“I don’t think it was racial. I just think they targeted anyone whose phone they could get.”
The Good Samaritan from Florida, during a telephone interview Saturday afternoon, said she was with her mother and had been taking a stroll on Michigan Avenue to look at the shops when they noticed three women, two of whom appeared to be in their 40s or 50s and one who looked to be in her 60s or 70s.
They were about 15 feet behind when they noticed three boys “creeping toward” the women, and one of the boys appeared to gesture to someone else, said the 15-year-old Florida girl.
“All of a sudden seven more teens came and got close to the women,” she said.
Then she noticed one of the boys ripping an iPhone from a pocket of one of the three women, so forcefully that the victim said: “Give it back,” but they denied they had it, said the girl.
“The rest of them swarmed around her to disorient her,” and began to become more physical and push the women against a small metal fence around some shrubs, the girl said.
With a rush of adrenaline, the Florida girl said she decided to step in, against her mother’s wishes.
“They felt endangered, but I’m a person who tries to help and I wanted to help the lady,” she said. “My mom tried to stop me three times.”
The Florida girl screamed at them: “Give her back her phone,” and a teen girl yelled back that they didn’t have it.
“That’s when the girl charged at me” and punched her, hitting the Florida girl’s head and ear, causing a big bump, bruising and swelling, she said.

New Yorkers attacked with hammers by black youths

Two men were attacked blocks apart in Harlem early yesterday by a hammer-wielding gang of thugs, police sources said.


The first victim of the seemingly random violence, Timmie Sampson, 31, was hit in the head with a hammer outside 1370 Fifth Ave., at East 115th Street, at about 12:45 a.m.


Sources said he was set upon by a gang of five or six black males wearing white T-shirts, and that at least one of the goons struck him over the head with a hammer.


Sampson’s girlfriend was with him at the time and took off her shirt to help stem the bleeding, sources said. She then put him in a cab, and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, in stable condition, a neighborhood source said.


At about 1:05 a.m., Daniel Legette, 24, was hit in the head with a hammer a few blocks away on Lenox Avenue and West 110th Street, sources said.
He was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital with head trauma, they added.


It does not appear the attackers knew their victims, and the motive remains unknown, the sources said.

Man Allegedly Assaulted By Group Of Youths In New Haven, Scooter Stolen

What began Friday as a possible motor vehicle accident on Goffe Street soon turned into an investigation of assault and robbery.

Officer Eric Pesino was dispatched to the incident, and, according to information shared by witnesses and EMT’s, victim Brooks Macquarrie of Wallingford did not fall prey to another motor vehicle.

According to a New Haven Police press release, witnesses said “between five and six black male teenagers rushed him, pushed him from the moving scooter, assaulted him, and fled with the scooter.”

Macquarrie suffered significant injuries.

“They split my head wide open,” Macquarrie said.

Macquarrie received 31 stitches and 8 staples in his scalp, two fractured ribs, a fracture to his right eye-socket, a broken nose and scrapes to his hands and legs.

He said he doesn’t remember the incident in its entirety. Macquarrie said he recalls being parked on his scooter at a red light before noticing the group of teenagers crossing the street.

He said one was on a bicycle and the rest were on foot. Macquarrie said he remembers the teen on the bicycle coming close to before, as he put it, he woke up in the hospital.

“They didn’t take my wallet or my gold chain, just the scooter,” Macquarrie said.

Mavquarrie was sent to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment after the attack, but he said he was being discharged as of Saturday.

Late Friday evening, police said Officers David Rivera and Jose Miranda spotted Macquarrie’s “candy-apple red” scoot on Dixwell Avenue near the Hamden Plaza.

The two young men riding the scooter fled to a yard near 31 Orchard Place, where they abandoned the scooter and escaped.

Police said the scooter was recovered but that the alleged assailants are still at large.

The release said those responsible would face charges of assault in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, larceny in the second degreaa and conspiracy charges.

Police added their report is based on preliminary information and that the investigation is ongoing.

Man, 21, Charged In MetroPCS Worker's Killing

The 21-year-old Jacksonville man arrested in the robbery and shooting death of Shelby Farah at a MetroPCS store on Saturday goes by the nickname: Killer.

James Rhodes is charged with first-degree murder in the killing of 20-year-old Farah during a robbery of a Brentwood cell phone store. Police said that after several hours of questioning late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, Rhodes confessed.

Veteran Jacksonville Sheriff's Office detectives say they're relieved such a dangerous man is off the streets. They say that had received some tips in the case after releasing surveillance video of the robber, but the break they needed came when Rhodes' own family tipped detectives off.

"You've got family members coming in, and they're scared of him, saying 'Hey, it's him, he did it,'" said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Lt. Rob Schoonover. "It was the icing on the cake right there."

Detectives said after the family spoke up, officers scoured the area and found Rhodes at a bus stop off Atlantic Boulevard.

Police said Farah was found dead after officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the store on Main Street near 21st Street on Saturday evening.

"He pointed the gun at her demanded the money," Schoonover said. "She cooperated, she was doing what he asked, and once she handed him the last bit of money, he fired three rounds, killing her."

Farah's mother waited outside JSO headquarters late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning because she wanted to see the person police arrested. She said she is happy with the job police did.

"I came in, I wanted to meet with the sheriff because I wanted to thank him myself," Darlene Farah said. "The sheriff, the whole police department, all the homicide detectives. I mean, they were out there full force as if Shelby was their daughter. I mean, they did not let go. They just kept going."

Darlene Farah had vowed to camp out at police headquarters until a suspect was arrested. Now she said she can get some rest.

"I wanted to be the first face he saw when they brought him out of the car. And I wanted my face to be the last face he saw when they were taking him to the jail," she said Tuesday.

Farah said she was relieved to hear of the arrest so she could move on to the next step.

"It was like, 'OK, this was real. Now it's time. I've got to move on. Shelby would want us to move on," she said. "And hopefully everybody in the community will pick up where Shelby left off at, as far as putting into the community."

Rhodes was released from jail a couple of months ago after being convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. He also has other convictions of violating parole, violating probation and battery.

Darlene Farah and a number of MetroPCS workers were in court for Rhodes first-appearance Wednesday afternoon, but he waived his appearance. He was ordered held without bond and an arraignment was set for Aug. 14.

Farah's family says with the accused killer in jail, they can finally focus on planning a funeral to honor her legacy. They said those plans will be announced later in the week.

Three Juveniles Charged As Adults In Beating Of Man In Little Italy, Baltimore

Baltimore police charged three juveniles as adults in the group beating of a man in Little Italy on Sunday. A 19-year-old was also charged with the group.

The four suspects were among six males police interviewed after a 24-year-old man was found bleeding and complaining of a broken jaw and missing teeth in the 300 block of S. Exeter St. The victim told police he had been walking west in the 1200 block of Bank St. when 10 to 15 males between the ages of 14 and 24 walking on the other side of the block approached him, a police report said. One of the suspects punched him in the face before he was kicked repeatedly, police said.

Police say a Samsung Galaxy III phone was stolen in the assault. Based on the man's account and other tips, police arrested the teens earlier this week. Detectives are investigating whether they could have participated in other crimes including alleged group assaults that residents have reported to police in recent weeks in Canton and Patterson Park neighborhoods.

The three suspects charged as adults were Rashad Watkins, 19, of the 3700 block of Elmora Ave.; Emajae McInnis, 16, of the 500 block of N. Lakewood Ave.; Rashawn Jefferson, 17, and Raekwon Jefferson, 17, who share the same birthday and live in the 1100 block of Somerset St.

Watkins is facing charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, second-degree assault and theft, court records show. The other three face first-degree and second-degree assault and theft charges.

Baltimore police spokesman Det. Vernon Davis said the three juveniles are being charged as adults because they are suspected of serious "aggravated assaults."

No attorneys were listed in court records.

Relatives or working phone numbers corresponding to Watkins and McInnis' homes could not be found. No one answered the phone at the Jeffersons' home.

Tulsa Man Charged With First-Degree Murder In Deadly Calumet House Fire

Derek Don Posey, 30, has been arrested in the deaths of a woman and boy in Calumet, Oklahoma found dead in a house fire on June 16

A Tulsa man was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder in last month's deaths of a Calumet mother and her 5-year-old son.

Derek Don Posey, 30, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder in Canadian County in the deaths of Amy Gibbins, 22, and her son, Bryor, whom firefighters found dead June 16 in a burned home.

Prosecutors allege Posey forcibly raped Gibbins and struck her on the head. They allege that after killing her, Posey set her house on fire. Bryor was in the house and died in the blaze, according to court documents.

Firefighters discovered the bodies about 4:40 a.m. after extinguishing the flames.

Gibbins worked at Premier Chemical & Oilfield Supply west of Calumet, Police Chief Brian Huckabee said.

“She was a good mom and a good person. Everybody knew her,” Huckabee said.

Posey was working in the oil fields around Calumet at the time of the killings, he said.

Posey also was charged with one count of felony debit card theft in the alleged theft of Gibbins' debit card.

Calumet police asked for assistance from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation in the case. Posey was arrested June 25 in Tulsa by OSBI agents, federal agents and Tulsa police, according to an OSBI news release.

He was taken to the Canadian County jail in El Reno, where he is being held without bail.

He is charged in a separate case in Tulsa County with aggravated assault and battery. Prosecutors allege Posey punched a man in the face June 6.

Black America’s Real Problem Isn’t White Racism

In the aftermath of the acquittal of George Zimmerman, Eric Holder, Al Sharpton and Ben Jealous of the NAACP are calling on the black community to rise up in national protest.

Yet they know — and Barack Obama, whose silence speaks volumes, knows — nothing is going to happen.

“Stand-Your-Ground” laws in Florida and other states are not going to be repealed. George Zimmerman is not going to be prosecuted for a federal “hate crime” in the death of Trayvon Martin.

The result of all this ginned-up rage that has produced vandalism and violence is simply going to be an ever-deepening racial divide.

Consider the matter of crime and fear of crime.

From listening to cable channels and hearing Holder, Sharpton, Jealous and others, one would think the great threat to black children today emanates from white vigilantes and white cops.

Hence, every black father must have a “conversation” with his son, warning him not to resist or run if pulled over or hassled by a cop.

Make the wrong move, son, and you may be dead is the implication.

But is this the reality in Black America?

When Holder delivered his 2009 “nation-of-cowards” speech blaming racism for racial separation, Manhattan Institute’s Heather Mac Donald suggested that our attorney general study his crime statistics.

In New York from January to June 2008, 83 percent of all gun assailants were black, according to witnesses and victims, though blacks were only 24 percent of the population. Blacks and Hispanics together accounted for 98 percent of all gun assailants. Forty-nine of every 50 muggings and murders in the Big Apple were the work of black or Hispanic criminals.

New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly confirms Mac Donald’s facts. Blacks and Hispanics commit 96 percent of all crimes in the city, he says, but only 85 percent of the stop-and-frisks are of blacks and Hispanics.

And these may involve the kind of pat-downs all of us have had at the airport.

Is stop-and-frisk the work of racist cops in New York, where the crime rate has been driven down to levels unseen in decades?

According to Kelly, a majority of his police force, which he has been able to cut from 41,000 officers to 35,000, is now made up of minorities.

But blacks are also, per capita, the principal victims of crime. Would black fathers prefer their sons to grow up in Chicago, rather than low-crime New York City, with its stop-and-frisk policy?

Fernando Mateo, head of the New York taxicab union, urges his drivers to profile blacks and Hispanics for their own safety: “The God’s honest truth is that 99 percent of the people that are robbing, stealing, killing these drivers are blacks and Hispanics.”

Mateo is what The New York Times would describe as “a black Hispanic” Yet he may be closer to the ‘hood than Holder, who says he was stopped by police when running to a movie — in Georgetown.

Which raises a relevant question. Georgetown is an elitist enclave of a national capital that has been ruled by black mayors for half a century. It’s never had a white mayor.

Is Holder saying we’ve got racist cops in the district where Obama carried 86 percent of the white vote and 97 percent of the black vote? And his son should fear the white cops in Washington, D.C.?

What about interracial crime, white-on-black attacks and the reverse?

After researching the FBI numbers for “Suicide of a Superpower,” this writer concluded: “An analysis of ‘single offender victimization figures’ from the FBI for 2007 finds blacks committed 433,934 crimes against whites, eight times the 55,685 whites committed against blacks. Interracial rape is almost exclusively black on white — with 14,000 assaults on white women by African Americans in 2007. Not one case of a white sexual assault on a black female was found in the FBI study.”

Though blacks are outnumbered 5-to-1 in the population by whites, they commit eight times as many crimes against whites as the reverse. By those 2007 numbers, a black male was 40 times as likely to assault a white person as the reverse.

If interracial crime is the ugliest manifestation of racism, what does this tell us about where racism really resides — in America?

And if the FBI stats for 2007 represent an average year since the Tawana Brawley rape-hoax of 1987, over one-third of a million white women have been sexually assaulted by black males since 1987 — with no visible protest from the civil rights leadership.

Today, 73 percent of all black kids are born out of wedlock. Growing up, these kids drop out, use drugs, are unemployed, commit crimes and are incarcerated at many times the rate of Asians and whites — or Hispanics, who are taking the jobs that used to go to young black Americans.

Are white vigilantes or white cops really Black America’s problem?

Obama seems not to think so. The Rev. Sharpton notwithstanding, he is touting Ray Kelly as a possible chief of homeland security.

Adams Morgan Hate Crime Was Motivated By Zimmerman Verdict, Police say

A Bethesda man was beaten and robbed early Saturday morning in Adams Morgan by three men who yelled, “This is for Trayvon Martin,” before attacking him, police said.

The incident is being investigated as a hate crime and robbery, according to D.C. police spokesman Araz Alali.

Three black men approached an adult white male from behind while he was walking in the 1700 block of Euclid Street NW at 1:26 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Two of the men threw the victim to the ground and kicked him, Alali said. The three perpetrators then took the victim’s iPhone and wallet and fled.

The victim suffered minor injuries and declined medical attention, authorities said.

“There is no pattern in these types of crimes. These attacks are outrageous; we are doing everything in our power to see that they certainly don’t occur. If they do occur, we are going to aggressively investigate them and bring people to justice,” Alali said.

Black Man In Hoodie Stabs White Girl 11 Times

Police in New York City are trying to find a black man wearing a hoodie who is responsible for a horrific attack on a teenage white girl who was stabbed 11 times just steps from her front door.

The knife-wielding maniac ambushed Natasha Martinez, 17, as she returned home from working her shift at a local McDonald’s restaurant.

Hearing her daughter’s screams, Natasha’s mother, Wendy Martinez, came running outside — and the bloodthirsty attacker fled.

“She came home from work, and her body was full of holes,” Wendy Martinez told the New York Daily News.

“I was holding her because she was going to fall. Her face was turning white, and I slapped her. I was telling her, ‘You have to stay alive.’”

The teen is recovering at Jamaica Hospital, in the borough of Queens, after undergoing surgery for stab wounds to her back, arms, stomach and kidney. Doctors had to remove a vein from her leg and put it in her arm. Her mother describes her condition as “really bad.”

“This is so difficult,” said Natasha’s mom. “You raise your child, take care of them since they were a baby, and then something like this happens.”

Several neighbors said they heard Natasha’s screams the night of the attack.

“I think she was screaming help or something,” witness Christopher Lopez told WCBS-TV.

“Then all of a sudden, I heard the screams get louder and I said, ‘Let me take a look,’” said witness Teddy Betancourt, “and it was the girl’s mother, holding her up, screaming — looked like she passed out.”

Many in the neighborhood were unaware of the attack until police knocked on their doors.

“It’s not a violent environment,” neighbor Edwin Martinez told the TV station. “You know, people don’t get stabbed and shot here. It’s a nice neighborhood.”



Cops are still searching for the assailant and are looking at surveillance video from Monday to see if the suspect may have started following Martinez from McDonald’s or a nearby sandwich shop where she stopped to eat before heading home. A hoodie-wearing man can be seen in the video. Police also recovered a bloody kitchen knife with a 6-inch blade in the building’s vestibule.

“We don’t have an arrest, and we don’t have a motive at this juncture,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

Kelly told WNBC-TV police are also looking into the possibility the attack is connected to another mysterious stabbing of a woman in front of her home in Queens in June.

A 36-year-old woman on her way to work early in the morning was stabbed seven times.

A man wearing a hooded sweatshirt was seen running from the scene in that attack.

“We’re looking at similarities between this and an event that happened in Queens, Kelly told the TV station. “We’re seeing if it’s a pattern here.”

The victims in both cases suffered critical injuries.

According to WKYC, a Cleveland, OH man was facing a scary situation late last week.


The homeowner and a woman were leaving the homeowner’s residence when they were attacked by two masked men with guns. One of the suspects pistol whipped the homeowner during an altercation in which the suspect tried to remove the homeowner from his vehicle.


Fortunately, the homeowner managed to grab a firearm that was in his vehicle and open fire on the suspect.


The suspect was struck several times and was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting. He was identified as Waymone Williams, age 23. The second suspect, in a display of how callous these thieves can be, stole the woman’s purse and ran away as his accomplice lay dying.


The homeowner was treated for minor injuries, but is expected to be fine.


This is the second incident in less than a week where a gun kept in a vehicle has saved someone from potential bodily harm. Also last week, a couple in Texas was kidnapped and forced to remove


money from a bank where the wife worked. Fortunately the husband was able to grab a firearm in the vehicle as the suspects had them drive away from the bank. He shot and killed one of the


suspects and wounded the other.
