Out of ALL the pictures here... these two:



Caught my attention the most.

Those are cops, or military personnel. Both of 'em. Those earpieces are connected to radios and they are pressing them into their ears to hear the radio broadcasts.

I'm wondering - the top picture looks like it was taken AFTER the blast. The white haired guy/gal in the middle on the bottom. Look down at the right side. Is that a weapon? Radio?

The "look"... tan cargo pants, back packs (black), boots on both same color, desert colored....

Guys, if I didn't know any better I'd say these guys were Army Spec Ops guys.

Going into an area for a mission though typically folks shed any identifying insignia etc. The hat the one guy is wearing appears to have a military symbol of some kind.

They MIGHT have just been guys on vacation... if not for the earpieces. They were listening to a radio and possibly talking on it. They might be cops though, and were there because they got a threat ahead of time and were trying to catch the perps.

At this point it's hard to tell.

Boston Marathon Explosion Witness Told Explosions ‘Part of Drill’

Stevenson, speaking with various news sources at the event, told one Alabama publication about what he witnessed during the race. While managing to finish the race before the explosions were in range of him or his bystander wife, Stevenson revealed some interesting information that makes sense of some Boston Globe tweets from earlier regarding bomb drills — which had been going on around the time of the actual explosions themselves and therefore may have confused police and emergency response.

In the article, Stevenson is recorded as saying:

“They kept announcing to runners not to be alarmed, that they were running a training exercise.”

In fact, the eyewitness runner says that there were already a major presence of bomb sniffing dogs and even a bomb squad.

Likely due to the perceived drill that was set to go on right before the actual explosion in the same area, the runner detailed how there was already a large presence of bomb sniffing dogs and even a bomb squad right nearby before the explosions hit. In fact, they had told the competitors and the fans that it was simply a drill — until they realized that real people were being injured and killed.

The numbers are not yet fully clear, but at least 20 were injured and at least 2 have died from the bombings.

These direct quotes by Stevenson, which have been captured via screenshot here in the event that the page is changed in any way or taken down, prove that the police were under the impression that the entire thing was a drill. This may coincide with a tweet made by the Boston Globe, which reads:

“BREAKING NEWS: Police will have controlled explosion on 600 block on Boylston Street”

Maybe.

I'm thinking they were there for something. Perhaps special ops guys sent in to stop the terrorists and they missed the target.

Maybe the were there in plainclothes to study what the trainees were doing during an exercise?

Those guys are NOT regular people, doubtful they were the bombers from the images (both still have their packs). But the boots, pants, earpieces and packs are DEAD giveaways.

I'd defy you guys to pick me out in a crowd of those guys.

I wear cargo pants a lot, jeans often, carry an SOC black internal framed pack now all the time everywhere I go, I usually have a radio, baseball cap and wear similar clothing.

It's typical for all of us military and former military these days. It's NOT hard to pick out an Army guy (the guy in the top image, left side, ARMY, I'd stake money on it). The guy on the right carries himself like military as well. The blonde guy is too blond to be a foreigner (German? South African?) Guy on the right, Iranian? Or hispanic descent?

I just enlarged the images... the hat the guy is wearing... that's a stylized skull on the front of it.

The Tenergy brand of batteries are available through Amazon and not just through the Tenergy website. There are other online vendors too. I would bet the batteries were bought online as I have never seen this brand in a shop, not that a shop would not have it, just I have not seen it carried in a physical store.

That skull is "The Punisher" from Marvel comics but also popular among Special Ops gaming people and possibly real life SpecOps.

I just couldn't place it at first.

Those guys are absolutely military guys. Both of them. They are the ones that "stand out in a crowd" for me.

My wife was picking out Secret Service guys a few years back when Bush came up to the AFA for the Graduation. They wandered through the place she works and she walked over and said, "Secret Service or WHCA?"

Freaked them out, they wanted to know how she knew. She laughed and said her husband is former WHCA and "you guys stand out like sore thumbs!"

it's a long single line or phrase. But washed out in the image because there's not good focus.

I agree its not exact and I suspect it was purchased physically somewhere. The back line is long enough to have Punisher written on it.

Oh, I will add that the hat I posted and ones with Marvel are licensed product. The one the man is wearing may be a vendor one or a discreet licensed one.

Yeah, the hat though isn't as important as the rest of the "signs".

Pants. Identical?

Radios and earpieces? Most definitely.

Backpacks? Similar, and generally what most military will carry. Non-issue, but still a black, nondescript pack.

Jackets? Heavier, probably some down or something in them. Stops punches. Slows down damage from blunt items. Keeps you warm. Hides things under the jacket.

Combat boots? Desert sand (I have a pair sitting in the basement at home).

Acting "the same"? Military... listening to their earpieces, same as I used to do when I wore one and something was going on.

The only difference is the color of the text on the back but, in my opinion, that doesn't mean much as it could be an older run or a design meant for hats specifically for people who went through a Craft course. Otherwise the location of the text on the back matches, the reverse flag on the right matches, and there is also text on the Punisher skull's forehead like the Craft hat.

They didn't stop the bomber. They didn't help anyone. They listened to the radio and essentially vanished.
