That theater is about 75 yards from Rock Bottom and the one we usually go to.

I'm a little disappointed they decided to make a trilogy out of the Hobbit. The actual book is actually rather short if I remember correctly. In fact, I think it is shorter than the first book of the Lord of the Rings trilogy (which is... well, a trilogy).

I've heard Peter Jackson wanted to film The Hobbit in real time but the studio rejected it forcing him to trim the movie to 10 hours instead of the planned 1008 hours the journey would have taken.

'The Hobbit' Reviews: Get The Scoop On 'Smaug'

The second 'Hobbit' film has left some critics cold, but even detractors agree that its titular dragon is a hot-ticket item.

Love it or loathe it, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" has at least one big win going for it — and it's spelled out right there in the title.


Director Peter Jackson's second of three "Hobbit" films hits theaters on Friday (December 13), and already, the reviews are in. While the overwhelming majority agree that "Desolation of Smaug" is an improvement in every way over its "Unexpected" predecessor, the sequel does have its detractors — but even those critics widely agree that Smaug, the fire-breathing dragon voiced by "Star Trek Into Darkness" and "Sherlock" actor Benedict Cumberbatch, is a rousing success.

The Verdict
Even if "The Hobbit" sequel sucks, its dragon is awesome. By all accounts, it sounds like Smaug is more than enough reason to bring some "Desolation" to your life this weekend.
