It's just cold here with no snow forcast. Currently -2 sliding to -12 by tomorrow. Windchills in the -30 zone. Pretty mild winter so far. We only have maybe a foot of snow down. Usually this time of year theres 4 ft or more.

It is literally one of everything coming down out there right now.
Nasty slop underneath an ice crust.
Called it an early night at work. Tried to get home and couldn't get up the hill on my road. Had to take a longer, slightly less steep option.
Stupid freeze line...
Just couldn't come south 30 miles or so.
I think we're supposed to drop in temp and change back over to freezing rain and/or snow some time tonight.
It was -13 when I left for work this morning - and that was with NO wind.

Looks like it stuck to just freezing rain the rest of the night.
A solid coating over everything. Surprised we still have power frankly. Had a sizable dead branch down in the yard.
Word from a couple people is that the main routes aren't too bad. I guess the salt is working well since we're just below freezing.
Last night I headed home early from my last site around 9:30. Drive home from this location normally takes just under 30 minutes. Took just over 45. Got to the steep hill on my street that is my main route home. Only managed to get half way up it before having to turn around and go a longer, slightly less steep route. My neighbor that works 3rd shift for the cable company got his bucket truck stuck near the top of the hill.
Haven't gone out to measure the thickness of the crust but it is thick enough to support the weight of my brother's Australian shepherd. He's only a year old so he wasn't quite sure what to make of it. He's only used to the snow and running around in it and didn't understand why he was walking on top instead of through.
My brown lab/pit mix broke right through and that makes her nervous since she doesn't know when she'll break through when stepping on it. She just wanted to stick to the walk I cleared.
Ice coating:
Mal and Phil,
Keep your eyes on the 11th-14th time frame. Could be a storm brewing:
Propane tank is full, Generac is working, and have food and a man to clear the driveway. Im ok. Let it come.
Took this while out driving today.
A small river out in the sticks in my service area, flooded and jammed up with ice:
Grrr. they broke my FF browser and IE sucks balls and other stuff.
We had 12 degrees this morning when I left. It's a heat wave!

Still icy but at least it's sunny now!
It's always cool when you get some bright sunlight catching in the ice coated trees. Too bad the camera doesn't really capture how it looks.
Sunny? What's that mean?

Was upper 30s here today and fell this evening. Some snow coming for a couple days. Meh.
This is apparently how North Carolina handles 2.5" of snow...
Judas Priest. Hate to see how many cars explode if they got hit with a full on mid-western blizzard.
LOL, someone made this Photoshop of the above picture:
I got 22 inches of snow in the last 24 hours.
We dealt with it just fine. No exploding cars even.

Wow, would be awesome to get some snow like that here.
Looks like I could see around 6" near my house through tonight. The single biggest total snowfall this season may well end up being from a sneaky clipper. LOL!
Took some pics this morning. It's been a grind moving this snow. Supposed to get another 2-4 today.

I received 18 inches from the same storm that hit Malsua. For me it has been a slow dig out. A cold rain mix followed the snow making it a very heavy wet snow. A single shovel full is about 30 pounds. My back is sore and I only have a third done. The main driveway is about 100 yards long and variable at the entrance at 30 feet wide to 40 feet at the pavers by the house. My guy to clear this cannot make it out and someone stole his plowhead equipment...
Like Malsua, expecting another couple inches today.
