‘Lethal Weapon’ TV Show In The Works At Fox

I like the Lethal Weapon movies for their '80s action movie awesomeness, overlooking Danny Glover being a tool and the director inserting his pro-PETA and anti-2A propaganda in the background.

I am skeptical about this since it is totally reinforcing that Hollywood is out of fresh ideas but will check it out anyway.

"Lethal Weapon" could be the latest movie set to become a TV series, TheWrap has learned.

Fox has given a put pilot commitment to the project from Warner Bros. Television, which is a reboot of the 1980s franchise of buddy-cop films starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover.

The new series will also follow Martin Riggs, a Texas cop and former Navy SEAL who moves to Los Angeles to start anew. He subsequently gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh.

The new show will be written by "Forever" EP Matt Miller, who will executive produce via his Good Session banner. Lin Pictures' Dan Lin Jennifer Gwartz will also act as EPs.

The problem with making Lethal weapon the series is that you don't have a young Mel Gibson to play the cop.

They will probably get someone who is too intense, like Jai Courtney(bad guy in Jack Reacher and the Divergent movies) and it won't work.

Or they will get a goofball who isn't intense enough. You need someone who is genuinely nutz

I was looking for a "reboot" thread to post an article and forgot I posted this so figured I'd post a follow-up.

I'm actually liking the new Lethal Weapon show! Much better than MacGyver.

The casting seems to be working well with Damon Wayans playing Murtaugh and Clayne Crawford playing Riggs. Clayne does a good job with the crazy act but it's more "death wish" crazy than Gibson's "unhinged" crazy Riggs.

The writing is clever with the dialog being witty and there's a good balance of action and comedy.

That said, it's on Fox and I like it so it's probably getting cancelled soon for being too expensive or some other BS.
