Meant to post this earlier but had to run out the door and have been gone since.
Just wanted to wish all who have served or are serving a happy Veterans' Day and, thank you all for your service!

This goes double from a civilian like myself. As most of you know I am not a "religious" man as such, but to those of you who have children, friends and family members who are in the service of our country my thoughts are for them to come back to you safe and soon.
"Still waitin on the Judgement Day"
Gentlemen, as a "vet" I thank you all for YOUR service right here
I spent the weekend with my wonderful wife traveling across the country to visit a close friend of ours, to thank him for HIS service and to attend a play for his kids (among other things).
Stopped in a winery, bought some wine. Stopped in Ks and bought some Chocolate (Russel Stovers or however it is spelled)... I don't care, I ate it.
Enjoyed traveling with my wife and listening to the CDs she bought for the trip. We saw not a few vets.
There were plenty of places offering me a "free lunch" (which I didn't take, I thought it was a trap myself. LOL)
I saw some random Army private at the gas station kind of near Ft. Riley and said, "Soldier!"
he said "Sir?"
I said, "Thank for your service son!"
He grinned like an idiot hehe. Made his day.

A bump for 2012!
Today I spoke with various folks I know who have served in the various armed forces. I said thank you to each. To all who have taken the step to put their life up to protect our country and constitution, I thank you.
I was out yesterday at our normal hangout and someone kicked in our bill anonymously That's a first. I've paid for many a vet's lunch in the past. There was one poor guy on his way back from Iraq a few years ago where we got stranded (in Minn) and he and a couple others were having lunch in uniform and bitching about getting stranded by NW Airlines... we were bitching too. They were on their way home from Iraq and had been stuck there almost two days... they were on their "mid tour leave". We were on our way to Jamaica for vacation. So my wife and I arranged to pay for their meals hehehe.
It was kind of fun. That was a few years ago.
I saw a lot of old military friends yesterday, some are in pretty sad shape these days... getting old.
A couple of them were pissed at me for "being in such good shape... damn it!" - that was the remarks a couple made. LOL!!

Another bump for 2013!
And a Veterans' Day speech from Ronald Reagan given 11/11/1988:
To those who served, thanks. To my son, my father, my father-in-law and various uncles on both sides - thank you.
To those families whose loved ones didn't come back home, go my greatest thanks.
I know it's late in the day but, I still wanted to post a thank you to everyone currently serving in our military and those who have served!
Yes, thank you, Sirs & Madams.

Thanks to our Veterans, especially those who fought against the Fascists in World War Two!
Don't like Fascists of any kind, Marxist, Islamist, red white black or brown, they can all take a long walk off a short pier.
